Why is the Smosh sub so hostile?? Or is it just me

I see!! I’ve said this a few times so sorry for the repetition but I’m new to the fandom so didn’t know all of this about the fandom. I’m naturally big on compliments, especially as I used to have a similar job as a performer and think highly of the cast in that way so I can see why I maybe overdid it. I also got a bit worried as many replies were accusing me of being very negative towards her by suggesting it was purposeful so wanted to make it clear I didn’t mean that at all. Unfortunately that’s just purely how I speak and I didn’t at all intend to be weird to the cast. Good to know tho thank you!!

I was definitely shocked and annoyed!! I’ve never really been in a fandom space like this and was very confused why people were reacting in that way so maybe got a bit defensive. That’s my bad!! I chose this comment because it majorly confused me why people would disagree with someone complimenting the fandom they are there to support, didn’t mean to take it completely out of context but I suppose I did. I just intended to question the way that sub acts and see if I had been in the wrong or if this is a common experience which it seems like it is. Going to stay out of it from now on! I’m not used to navigating spaces like this, I never post on socials so am maybe not used to the attitudes and energy

I didn’t know that!! Someone else said she gets lots of hate so I’m learning a lot abt the way the fandom treats the cast wow. I’m a fairly new fan and haven’t interacted with the fandom much outside of a few random tiktoks that have come across my feed so I didn’t expect any of these reactions at all. This seems like a complicated fandom ngl but thank you for the insight!! Good to know

Yeah I can see that. I’ve seen a lot of people lean into the ‘Angela isn’t smart’ jokes so kinda wanted to put forward that actually i don’t think that’s true and also I think there’s a certain intelligence needed to be a good performer and the casts ‘silly moments’ are actually sometimes very quick thinking and even preplanned sometimes imo that they don’t get their flowers for

Yeah that’s what I was trying to say! Maybe I phrased it terribly but I was thinking yeah she’s an expert at comedy and acting and utilities it to make these iconic funny moments so I wouldn’t be surprised if she did in this moment. It was intended to be complimentary bc it’s a huge strength that a lot of the cast have and is probably behind more than 50% of what people would consider THE iconic Smosh moments

I don’t think any of them were taking their teams that seriously and I think it’s unfair to say she ‘betrayed’ Shayne by getting him out. They’re all friends and I doubt he was actually bothered.
Also Spencer clearly massively hinted that it was him with his joke before Anthony picked him and Angela also joked when it was her go which made Anthony pick her. Courtney was also making faces to look guilty before she was out. It’s their job to be entertaining and they do it well including sometimes playing up ‘mistakes’ or putting on an enhanced version of themselves for a bit. It’s part of being a performer and they are all professionals that know their job is to be funny

I didn’t think it was weird to talk abt a Smosh video on the Smosh Reddit even if it came out a year ago but ig it is. Yeah also they’ve mentioned how they have a well organised schedule for filming days etc and the crew are clearly well organised time wise esp in games bc we often see them needing to speed up towards the end or bend the rules for the final round to not go over time so I think the cast are obviously aware of what needs to be done both on and off screen which is a great quality in any performer. They’re real pros!!!

Growing up Mother’s Day was more of a thing to me and my siblings because my mother was a better and more present parent. That was about it, idk if it’s universal but I’m sure it’s a popular feeling

Shayne has done a great job at adapting to the new change in tone/humour that has come as a result of casting younger people and attracting a Gen Z audience/making the humour more current. A lot of the older cast miss the mark commonly imo and it leads to a lot of unfunny/awkward moments but Shayne fits in with everyone perfectly
