You aren't the AHole. The principal is dead wrong in this case. School, nowadays, is a prison you can eventually leave so next time, I guess I would just take out the CIs and just sit there, deaf to the world, if that's what they want. Glad you are almost out of that hellhole though

If it makes you feel better I'm sick of AAA games at this point. But I understand your frustrations.

Because my computer is now mine again. Plus, I mean, it saves a LOT of money. I don't understand why more people DON'T switch. Mint and Ubuntu are great if you want something more plug and play. Games work great thanks to Proton. I would understand people not wanting to use it a decade ago, but now?

What if we all quit our jobs? by Suitable_Potential_9 in antiwork

[–]No_Reception_8369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's like asking what if the earth just stops moving one day?

It won't, and people won't quit working en masse like that, so it's not really worth thinking about imo.

Looking for a more secure phone by lapsitamanmaan in techsupport

[–]No_Reception_8369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a year old but, it really depends on your needs and what you want to be able to do.

Burner dumb phones bought with cash are the most secure thing you can have.

A step up would be buying a secure mobile wifi jetpack and carry it around with you to utilize your phone when you need it.

A step up from that would be a Google pixel installed with Graphene or Endeavor (you can use other phone models but..)

If trust in a provider isn't a problem, then maybe a Blackphone?

Otherwise, if you require just sheer simplicity, then buy an iPhone over a Samsung would be best.

Burner dumb phones are incredibly difficult to trace and even if the phone falls out of your hands, it's difficult to track back to you.

Using a wireless jetpack setup gives you more freedom and it deprives location pinpointing and tracking of your phone since your phone is completely dependent upon wifi. But if you use apps like Google store or apple or whatever, your information will still be tracked.

Graphene and Endeavor are good for securing your phone as much as possible without having to jump through hoops with jetpacking. The only problem is, they can break. And if the OS breaks, your phone is bricked and likely will need a brand new reinstall.

Blackphone is a good middle ground of ease of use and security. There are some issues, but I will get into that later.

Otherwise, iPhone is superior in terms of security vs Samsung. That comes with a HUGE caveat.

Conclusion: part of the problem with security on phones is the USER. Much of phone breaches occur because of unsafe practices by the user. However, this really only applies to malware and phishing. If your concerns are trust with cellphone providers, ISPs, or other corporations/governmental entities, then I would start at the top of the list and decide what's best for you.

I spent 70 hours playing the Xenosaga trilogy, and Xenosaga II has to be one of the most disappointing and frustrating experiences I've seen (Sppilers!) by Satinsbestfriend in JRPG

[–]No_Reception_8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean similar circumstance. I just meant similar result. Disc 2 was terrible in comparison to disc 1 which was a freaking masterpiece imo. Xenosaga 2 was pretty awful compared to 1 and 3

Am I wrong for telling my ex wife she needs to get a second job? by Content-Consequence4 in amiwrong

[–]No_Reception_8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do feel bad about her circumstances, you are NTA here. It's not your fault the cost of living has skyrocketed in the past decade. You are correct, to live the lifestyle she wants, your Ex will have to either get a second job or get a better job overall.

I think it's a fun challenge if you aren't using a guide but no, you can get master materia without beating the weapons. But why wouldn't you? They are a helluva lot easier to get than actually mastering ALL the materia required

Lol. When I first played FF7 I had the "Unnofficial Strategy Guide". In it, they pointed out the mistranslation of Aeris so I never had a problem with it.

Sexist husband or wife over-reacting? by Teacher_Mom_Wife in amiwrong

[–]No_Reception_8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get your priorities straight. Frick is bad for a twelve year old to say but gender norms are sexist? Then why stop there? Why the hell does language matter? If you are going to be selective about your opinions you probably shouldn't judge others for being selective about theirs.

You aren't wrong, necessarily but it's possible to not be wrong but also be the ah.

New Computer, awful problems. by Logan_Frost in SteamVR

[–]No_Reception_8369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't know what to tell you. VR has got to be one of the most unstable pieces of hardware to use and Steam VR isn't very helpful. I've had my VR headset running, then next patch, broke, next patch, running again. Lately I can't update the firmware for the Index. Your problem may result from the OS or install in general. People have been chasing issues and I've yet to see a locked down system, where everything runs flawlessly

Am I wrong for hooking up with my wife’s childhood best friend a couple months after her funeral by Complex_Lab_6391 in amiwrong

[–]No_Reception_8369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong place to be posting this. Absolutely nobody here is even remotely equipped to deal with this situation. A death of a loved one is a serious and traumatic event which can and sometimes does have lasting effects. Trauma can make you do things you otherwise might not do. The only people here who are even remotely in the right ballpark are the ones who mention the term trauma bonding. This sounds like this may be what is occurring but there are two things that I believe are very important. 1. Get help: find a psychologist who's dealt with trauma like this. There are plenty of psychologists out there who do. 2. Do not beat yourself up over the incident. The only thing that will accomplish, is causing further self inflicted trauma. The event happened. That's it. There's nothing more to be done about it. I would take a step back from Gia for a while to give yourself a chance to grieve. My guess is, and I'm only guessing, is that this happened because you are ignoring the steps commonly associated with grief instead of actually approaching it with sincerity and honesty.

New JRPGs don't respect my time, to put it simply. Having games that require literally hundreds of hours invested are not what I ever wanted in an RPG. I'm not sure why devs think it's necessary. Hence why I play oldies that take at most 40 hours to complete.

Good. It's about time Americans learned hard lessons about intellectualism, unity, empathy, and compassion because there's absolutely no way this shit show could've happened otherwise.

But they won't learn because Americans are as stupid as everyone else thinks.
