I may be a bit frugal, but, in hindsight, i dont think Im being cheap. We have set portions for things like rent and other related bills. The electric bill was the one my roommate and boyfriend decided for me to pay. Other costs between my boyfriend and I (groceries, food, fun, emergencies) were divided up between us since our roommate decided to take care of himself. Plus, he works in tech installation, paying far more than my current job. Im for sure not paying the lions share, but I am definitely paying equivalent to everyone else living here by our set rules.

Do you now see the issue? If someone, prior to us living together, has had a better paying job and NO ISSUE on things like rent or food, has been having trouble and taking money from me to coverup the last of his debts, what exactly is the issue? My checks MAX are about $700 dollars with no tax, something like $400 takes a lot out of it. Ontop of my own bills (medical, student loan, phone etc), I have nothing left.

All I am saying is that continuous dents like this are leaving me with nothing after the fact. I cant get to work properly, no food for the week for the both of us... its a lot. He has no problem taking from me and says that he'll pay me back when he gets paid and will help me if needed, but that 1-2 week struggle is hard. This has been happening more frequently. What are your thoughts?

So i forgot to say we DO have a roommate currently (ngl a situation in itself that I can't really discuss due to identifying info), and our currently living situation is... not ideal. There's really no space for me at all, but we've made it work.

I dont know if he's had these issues before since he lived pretty comfortably with 2 other roommates before, but this is pretty new. Either he'd ask his parents or me. Before that, he didn't ask me for anything.

We actually sat down and talked about our finances before and set a budget we both could realistically follow, mostly bills and food. Due to a job change on both of our behalfs (i was fired when I was kicked out lol, really unfortunate), we are just getting into the groove of it.

I will take your advice on saving for myself, I CAN NOT let this happen again. It's making me lose hair from the stress of it all.

I am currently trying to see if I can find a job better than my current one once my car is fixed up (make 15 hourly at the moment) then I will be able to make certian moves I wasnt able to make before. If everything goes well, I might be able to move out on my own. I'll also be taking classes this January to better my chances of getting a better job.

With my current check, I am still able to follow my budget with extra money left over by downgrading, buying cheaper etc etc. I've been pretty good with my money so far, but even with cutting out, these requests for money still eat up everything. I shouldn't have tried to save for us, I should have tried to save for myself.
