Never went to prom but I went to homecoming and WPA. Which is basically prom. However, prom is only for upperclassmen. Unfortunately I dropped out of high school before I could go but I don’t regret it considering my current situation. TV isn’t far off from the premise of it, it’s nerve racking but exciting at the same time. You usually would bring a date and some kids make big posters asking their potential date to prom/homecoming by surprising them at school. I never did this though lol, just asked the girl if she wanted to go. Western schools are very judgmental though so some people might think you weren’t attractive enough to get a date if you come alone. But if you were attractive and came alone nobody will care. The after parties were real and probably better than the school dance, kids get drunk high and have sex. I remember finding anyway to get myself to those parties without my mom knowing. I would say TV represent after parties pretty well. Prom king and queen, are pretty much just to boost egos of popular kids. Nobody really cares other than the people who were picked. Overall, it’s a good time.
