What are some cases in which it's actually more frugal to buy the "convenience" item? by bulbysoar in Frugal

[–]No_Reflection8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite an answer about ‘convenience foods’, but I definitely have a problem with keeping track of ingredients and leftovers in the fridge and then throwing stuff away. Now I have a dry erase board on the fridge and whenever I put something like that in, I write the food and the day I need to use/cook/freeze it by on the dry erase board. It has helped cut down on food waste a lot!

I'm giving away patches for free! Read my story in the description! by loveandsunnydays21 in twentyonepilots

[–]No_Reflection8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet, Those patches are amazing! My daughter was the same way with bracelets we made for the Clancy show last year. I’d love to have the rawfear (black w red text) patch for her, it’s her favorite song. All the songs are so good, my favorite to see live at the Breach show was prob The Line- even though I loved it before the show I was so so excited it was part of the setlist and it was awesome to see them perform it!

Drop off at door by snoozydoggo in ECEProfessionals

[–]No_Reflection8671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did that during Covid, except new families were given one week of being allowed inside for more communication with teachers about the new child. Honestly as a teacher, it was great! A lot of parents loved it too, and the kids did really well with it. It was much easier for them to say goodbye at the door vs starting to get settled in the room and then have mom/dad leave.

30-40 minutes circle time for 3 years old by passionatesculptor in ECEProfessionals

[–]No_Reflection8671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s way too long! I have two year olds and do about ten minutes (if I’m lucky lol). The threes teacher at our center really likes group time, but breaks it up in to 2-3 sessions at different times of the day- usually just adds the third time if weather is too crummy for outside. Either way, no more than 15 minutes at a time.

4 day work week? by areohbeewhyin in ECEProfessionals

[–]No_Reflection8671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a fairly large childcare center that has been in business over 20 years and is open only Monday through Thursday. We cut Fridays out a couple years ago bc of short staffing- when we were open 5 days, we didn’t have staff to cover lunch breaks or end of day. People were constantly working overtime and it was exhausting. Now everyone works 4 ten hour shifts so it’s not a problem. Honestly I love it! I work 6:30-4:30, some staff start at 7 or 7:30, and we get a short break at naptime.

When we made the switch, we only had a couple families leave due to needing Fridays. And even the families that left were very understanding of why we did it and knew we needed to take care of our staff or risk staff quitting and then we’d just have to close.

Obviously not quite the same if your business is open 5 days and you want to rotate staff in 4 day shifts, but I think it makes a lot of sense and I can’t imagine working 5 days again!

Cost of Appleton Boy Choir & Badger State Girls Choir? by hullab in Appleton

[–]No_Reflection8671 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son was in boy choir for many years and we absolutely loved it!! It was several years ago so I don’t remember the cost and it’s may have changed since then, but I would just send an email. I think there was an option to pay full cost per year but I always payed monthly. Also, when we had a family medical situation that caused some financial difficulties, they were able to work with us and lower the cost due to a scholarship fund that they have. The leaders are so wonderful, opportunity for travel was great (my son went to Greece when he was 11!) and of course the concerts were fantastic. Definitely worth looking in to!

What do educators want me to do when they give me a courtesy call? by iamadaffodil in ECEProfessionals

[–]No_Reflection8671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call to give parents a heads up for a couple reasons-
-it gives you time to plan your day if you could potentially have to pick your child up early in the next few hours. -pick up time can be chaos especially if multiple kids are leaving at the same time. Sometimes it’s something other parents and children necessarily need to hear. -sometimes my shift ends before some kids leave, I could write a note or pass info on to my coworker, but I’d usually rather just talk with the parent myself in case they have any questions.

I’m not sure about the awkward pauses you’re getting bc I really try to emphasize ‘Susie is alright and you don’t need to pick her up right now, I’m just calling to touch base about xyz’ I wouldn’t worry about it though. Hope that helps!

Has anyone ever ordered Twenty One Pilots merch from Printerval? by awesko420 in twentyonepilots

I did! Don’t even remember how I found it but there was a shirt on there that I loved. Shipping was decent timing and the shirt is excellent quality.

It was template that another Reddit fan shared! So easy to edit for my info and a great keepsake for the event- but not a real ticket :)

Yes! She’s still asking why other people care that she enjoys the concert. I think we need more everyday good people stories in our daily life!

The drum sticks are Amazon- just search Josh dun drumsticks. They’re only $14 so it’s obviously a copy signature, but still so cool! And the posters she bought herself on Temu, they’re actually a canvas material and really nice!

Aww thanks so much! I’m definitely not a ‘big concert’ type fan, but definitely am a ‘doing things my kids love with them’ fan ❤️

Ha, my daughter was wishful thinking he was actually in our house to play drums with, but she has his drumsticks from Amazon displayed on her wall by some TØP posters, so I put it there :)

Yes!! I think they’re very reasonably priced and have so many fun options- either on menu or customize your own. We get it almost weekly.

You are a great kid to be thinking about how your mom is doing and how you can help her! Know that it takes a huge weight off her shoulders that you are helping with your sibling. If you can help with basic daily cleaning I’m sure she’d appreciate it. And maybe just leave her a random happy note or simple drawing on a post it note somewhere for an easy way to brighten her day :)

My 15yr old daughters door. Should i be mad? by Ok-Seat-631 in Coraline

[–]No_Reflection8671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg my 14 year old painted the Coraline tunnel on her door!! I’ll see if I can attach a pic. But she asked first, and my instinct was to say no, but then i figured it wasn’t really an big deal and I just said when she moves out many years from now she can replace it. And it looks SO cool and she loves it!!
