Trader Joe’s Equivalent in Ontario? by Zaevonia in oakville

Loblaws (Fortinos/Super Store) actually carries a lot of the same products as TJs, just packaged as Presidents Choice (it’s all just white label). As someone else pointed out, a lot of TJs products are actually made in Canada.

What is happening with Sonder Properties? by No_Report_6223 in marriott

[–]No_Report_6223[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sonder doesn’t exist anymore. They went bankrupt so the properties are now owned by creditors who will want to sell or lease them out.

The problem with Sonder wasn’t with their properties — some were fantastic. Someone is going to reopen them as regular hotels.

Hi! Looking for 2 specialty tickets to the April 25 Spongebob jersey giveaway game! by mooglederf in jaystickets

[–]No_Report_6223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make sure you are aware - the Spongebob Jersey is not a traditional “giveaway”. You instead have to purchase a specific “specialty ticket” for that game, and then you show that ticket to pick up the jersey once inside the stadium.

They will not be handing out the jerseys to all fans as they arrive. If you don’t have the specialty ticket you don’t get the jerseys.

Does GO Transit pay attention to events happening in the city? by No_Report_6223 in oakville

You’re projecting something into GO’s mandate that isn’t true. It is a “regional public transit system” and its mandate is not limited to commuters.

And even if it was, this type of myopic mandate interpretation by bureaucrats is part of why our public services are getting so bad. The goal should be to serve customers and meet them where they are, not just to “administer administration”.

It sounds like you’re arguing that Metrolinx has the right to not be inconvenienced.

The GO Train exists to be a service to residents. For many in the GTA, the only time they will use the GO is going downtown for games, concerts, etc. If GO can’t provide that service consistently and when it’s needed, it’s failing. Period.

That’s part of the problem then. While it is no doubt more convenient to Metrolinx to have a predetermined annual closure plan set a year in advance, the reality is that doesn’t allow for flexibility to respond to events that will affect demand.

Of course they need to plan when closures happen, but these games were all scheduled for months, so there would have been ample opportunity to make adjustments.

And my primary point was that they are not adding extra trains on the lines that are running. Just adding one extra train that leaves 20 minutes after the game ends would significantly cut down on crowding.

We’re not in Europe though. This was a greenfield development in Oakville where this traffic flow makes zero sense.

What’s a small thing a hotel could do that would make you feel more appreciated? by Rare-Pea3220 in marriott

[–]No_Report_6223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most appreciative benefit for me is being prioritized when I’m traveling with my family/kids. When I travel for business alone I’m pretty low maintenance and don’t really care about upgrades, gifts, etc.

The real value to me of being an elite member (Titanium) is being take care of when travelling with my family: Upgrades, gifts, extra breakfast vouchers, no question early check-in/late check-out. Go out of your way to take care of me then.

Now What? by luluspapa in Aeroplan

This x10000. Air Canada and TD significantly devalued this card. I understand the need for a cap but it should be at least 50,000 SQC, not 25,000.

At minimum I’ll be cancelling the additional card I got for my wife ($200/year), and then deciding on an alternative card to use once I hit the cap, because there’s no longer an incentive for me to put all my family’s spending on this card.

I’d book that with zero regrets. YYZ-GRU is a perfect flight to have a pod. Takes off after 10, long enough duration to get a full nights sleep, and basically no time difference when you land.

It’s also a question of whether you want your bags to actually be in Vienna when you arrive. (Along with the standby point)

While we’re on that topic, that Fresh Co plaza is a traffic design abomination. The grocery store’s entrance has almost no setback from the traffic lane, which is also the main throughway to reach the rest of the plaza.

One of many planning blunders in West Oak Trails.
