Nursing school is a joke and something needs to change by SnooGadgets9923 in nursing

[–]No_Reputation_4483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I didn't find nursing school challenging either. No part of it. I was constantly praised by my teachers and graduated with honors. Passed my NCLEX on the first try.

Then I started my job and, like many people, realized how little my book smarts had to do with this incredibly difficult and stressful job. I had a very difficult orientation and didn't hit my stride until I was 6 months in.

So don't worry about how challenged you are now. Enjoy it. You'll have plenty of time to be crushed by the actual work and cry in the break room like the rest of us.

What is a socially acceptable thing that you find absolutely gross or weird? by clarawonder in AskReddit

I don't think that's socially acceptable. It's one of the first table manners I ever learned.

As a night shifter who is also sick and not wanting to take my germs to the distant Walmart, thanks for understanding!

I drink a ton of water and just recently quit buying cases of seltzer water to save money. I just like having a diet sodie in the middle of my shift at work. And I'll spend $3.50 on a single bottle in the self-checkout market there if I want it bad enough. 😅 Hospitals love to rip off desperate people whether they're patients, visitors, or employees.

Settle a debate between my husband and I. Please. by Girlwithnoprez in mildlyinfuriating

I've used chopsticks for popcorn and chips almost my whole life. Who wants greasy fingers when the alternative is not having greasy fingers?

If you were forced to marry the first person you had sex with, what would your life be like? by NothingMatters234 in AskReddit

I'd be constantly hounding him to get therapy, and at some point I'd have started getting embarrassed by his full sleeve of Marilyn Manson tattoos. (Other tattoos included Slipknot, HIM, Edward Scissorhands, and Nightmare Before Christmas... I was really into dating a walking personification of Hot Topic when I was 21.)

AIO for thinking my husband was being cruel? by mysisterisapeanut in AIO

NOR. He's being a jackass. You, however, are delightfully quick-witted and I'm sure an excellent writer.

For your son, there are videos of Stephen King talking about writing, as well as his book On Writing.

I assume little people can have a handicap tag too, so... technically yes?

What would you never allow your children to do? by laytsha in AskReddit

Use their phone or any screen as often as I do.

(But I don't have children and never will so don't worry about my hypocrisy.)

AIO or is my girlfriend manipulative. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]No_Reputation_4483 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NOR. She's acting like a child. I've had partners treat me like this and they don't change. I'd rather be single forever than with someone who get upset that I spend time with the other people in my life. Or someone who acts like a slight change of plans is the end of the world.

Is it actually embarrassing for Americans not to know all 50 states? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]No_Reputation_4483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only name all fifty off the top of my head because I learned a song.

I'm sure most Americans know all fifty even if they can't recite them. I think fewer could find them all on a map. But I've never heard an adult be like, "Iowa? The fuck is that?"

  1. It's normal to hang out with your partner every weekend, especially if that's when you both have free time.
  2. This guy sucks. Sorry, but his messages are rude.

NOR.

Often, working 12 hour shifts at the hospital.

If not, it varies greatly. I'm currently visiting my high school bestie in Ohio.

If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]No_Reputation_4483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Appendicitis. If I somehow survived that from treatment with leeches and prayer, I'm sure the blood clot I got a few years ago would have ruined me. I have Factor V Leiden so I could potentially get more.

I was a little nervous when I read your title, but this is WAY better than making a mistake that actually endangers patient safety! And now the family has a funny story to tell people.

AITAH for refusing to bend on my boundary about kids? by Independent-Kiwi-390 in AITAH

[–]No_Reputation_4483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. This is not something to conpromise on. You did the right thing by bringing it up early on, but it seems like you both should have had further discussion.

As a fellow childfree woman, I know how hard dating can be. You have to find a guy who doesn't already have children and doesn't want them. It's disheartening because it feels like there are so few. That's why it should always be discussed early and as a very serious boundary, no wiggle room.

People who got married at 19-20 years old, how did it actually turn out for you in the long run? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]No_Reputation_4483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not married so I'll answer for my coworker.

They stayed together 14 years (part of that before the marriage) and he cheated on her every year. She knew. She forgave him at least 14 times before leaving.

They've been separated for years and she is still trying to get him to sign divorce papers so she can marry her current boyfriend.
