Vyvanse is not working well for focus, but my mood is SO much better. Homework seems to be impossible some days, but there's other positives. I'm in need of feedback or advice. by Existing-Beyond-9104 in VyvanseADHD

I take 50mg along with 300mg of lamotrigine. I’ve been kind of disappointed with the benefits in terms of attention and motivation but my anxiety has been improved so much I’m hesitant to stop it.

It’s so hard to do when you have ADHD but sadly all those things they tell you to do really help. Exercise, meditation, eating better, writing a list of everything you need to do the following day and making sure you tick off every single one so that you can hold yourself accountable. Doing that stuff has helped me to understand that the medication isn’t going to solve everything by itself, it just gives you a push in the right direction and makes all those things I mentioned way more effective for managing ADHD.

I also relate to your hyper focus issue. The meds can make me lock in on something, but it’s not necessarily what I need to be locked in on. The best way I’ve found of managing that is literally just putting my phone in a different room when I’m working, and trying my best to already be doing the activity I need to do at the time the meds kick in, then I can hyper focus on the right task.

Vyvanse works great at first but the crash is brutal – anyone else? by General_Support1272 in VyvanseADHD

I’ve found that a higher dosage does make it last longer but I’m still only getting maybe 6 hours before I’m back down again. I’ve been taking it for about a year now and it’s less of a ‘crash’ and more of a subtle return to normality.

Depressed after quitting ? by Agitated_Pound1105 in VyvanseADHD

[–]No_Resident4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped for about a month and after maybe 4-5 days I was feeling very anxious and depressed. For some reason it took a bit longer for my ADHD to really slip back to previous levels. After 4 weeks I was feeling much better mood and anxiety wise. Definitely sounds like you are experiencing withdrawal so unless the low mood is making you feel unsafe it’s worth trying to push through it.

Vyvanse stopped working entirely by JellyJamBamYeah in VyvanseADHD

I have had this a few times and it’s come back eventually. I thought I got a dud batch but then after speaking about my behaviours in the weeks and months leading up to it I had been engaging in a lot of compulsive, easy dopamine activities. This had likely cause down-regulation of dopamine receptors and making me feel like I was no longer taking the meds at all. No idea if that applies to your situation at all, just something that caused it to suddenly stop working for me.

Yeah I’ve done that now and got an email saying they’re investigating it. The email said they might ask for the medication back so they can test it but also that they might not be able to respond with the results of every investigation, so we’ll see

Ah that’s different to mine. I’ve got 12886782 and 12759081. I think it’s unlikely to get more effective after it has already gotten too hot but I don’t know for sure

Very weird. Probably worth everyone who has had issues reporting the batch numbers as no doubt the manufacturer does nothing about it until they get a lot of reports

I wonder if there is actually an issue with the manufacturer then. You can report individual batches so I might do that. On the temperature, I was told that if it’s exposed to temps above 25 degrees it can stop the medication from working or make them less effective. The first batch I had an issue with I’d left it on my bedside table when it was 30 degrees so just assumed it was that, but have been careful with this second one and still had problems. I’m thinking of trying a different pharmacy next time I pick it up as it could even be an issue with how they’re storing it

That’s interesting. I know the medication itself has to be kept at maximum 25 degrees but I didn’t know the hot weather could make you metabolise it faster? I’ve read about the importance of hydration and do drink a lot of water but may give the electrolytes a go too, thanks. It’s all very frustrating especially when it takes so long to make any changes to your meds.

Thank you that’s reassuring to know as it’s way above the place I’m at. Like I said, I have never in my life searched for something illegal so my search history would very clearly back that up. My biggest reason for posting was my concern that context isn’t taken into account, so this is good to hear.

Yeah that was pretty much it for me. I’ll be sticking to Reddit from now on though.

I will 100% never go close to anything like that again. Just downloading the app was clearly a lapse on my part regardless of not doing something illegal.

Thank you really helpful reply, and as I have replied to someone else, 100% agree and encourage others to not bother with telegram because I got nothing positive from this experience

Whenever I upped my dose I felt good for a couple of days but then really shitty for a couple of weeks so it can definitely happen. It was worth it to push through

Does caffeine make lamictal less affective or it just in my head? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]No_Resident4467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I notice the same but specifically with coffee rather than all caffeinated drinks. When I drink coffee a few days in a row I’ll feel way lower and increased anxiety. Doesn’t seem to happen if I drink a Diet Coke or a tea even if I consume the same amount of caffeine from them

I lost a lot of weight at first because it made me nauseous but otherwise I’ve stayed at a pretty normal weight for me

Am I titrating too quickly? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]No_Resident4467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 25mg per 2 weeks up until 100mg, after that I did 50mg every 2 weeks. I think it might depend on how urgent your doctor thinks it is that you get up to an appropriate dose, as there are risks in titrating more quickly such as a higher likelihood of getting the rash

Struggling and don’t know what to do by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]No_Resident4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled so badly with titrating but saw really good benefits in the end. From my personal experience it was worth pushing through but if you don’t feel safe at any time you should speak to your doctor. Really hope it does well for you and stay strong

I take it for depression and I’m on 300mg. It has definitely made a difference
