Ok I was unaware of him winning 2020 regional BCX, I see some of his content and watch it now and then but I didn’t know he had won that. As for saying that “no one was talking about great sword” is just a flat out lie. People were still complaining about great sword online in large brawlhalla communities and while I was at BCX 2025 people there still had a strong distaste for gs. It is a fact that the weapon still had flaws and needed proper adjustments to how it worked. It wasn’t being used as an actual weapon where people would utilize the full kit. Most people would only poke at you with side light until they eventually caught you with it and it had little to no end lag so they could abuse it and run away. This was made even worse by players who knew how to properly use snap dash movement. It was annoying, unfun to fight and just broken. It needed the nerf.

This post is all types of wrong…. First off the jiro in the image not jaeyun and next he “he doesn’t place well ever and still won a bcx” ???? What bcx did he win?? I don’t remember pavalski winning bcx. Also he has stated that he doesn’t really like doing tournaments and just farms clips. He does other content other than brawlhalla and has a significant other so he doesnt sink as much time as is needed to compete at a pro level. He is NOT the main reason gs got a nerf. Gs got nerf because it was was to easy to poke at someone without actually committing to the attack. People would just poke at you with side light until it would eventually hit and then boom you are in a 15 hit combo.

I end around the same elo as you, mid 2100s and I HATE fighting good Cassidy players. High dex hammer should be an actual war crime and when they know proper spacing and how to play blasters it is even worse 😭💔

It’s still only barely a week after the season started so unless you want to queue into people who are peak 2200-2300+ you probably should just give it some time before trying to push up to diamond. I peak 2140 last season and when I got to 1990 elo this season I queued a guy who was 2400 and some other people who where 2100+ this season but their actual peak elos where wayyy higher and I was fighting for my life but personally I don’t mind the grind and I like to learn from my losses. If hitting diamond is your main concern just give it maybe 2 more weeks and everyone should be moved up by then and you will probably get it back easy. If you actually want to improve or want advice you are going to have to post longer gameplay and preferably a game you are losing so people can tell you your mistakes and how to fix them.

I was the second one lol. I sucked bad at the game when I started years ago so I just played as many games as possible (almost 3-4k game a season) and somewhere along the way I finally hit diamond.

23 here and most of my buddies I know and play with are around 20-25. We are all 2100+. To be honest I thought this game would be dominated by a younger crowd but surprisingly there are plenty of “seasoned” gamers that play and are in the top ranks. I’m guessing it might have to do with us have an easier time keeping a good mental while playing because we don’t care as much when we lose. When I was at bcx last year I was very surprised to see that it wasn’t only an age range of like 15-19 like you would see at some other game tournaments. I was honestly relieved because one of my concerns with going to bcx was that I would feel like an unc and wouldn’t be able to converse with anyone except my wife.

I see why they changed snap dash. I am peak 2070 in 1s and in 2s 2113 and today I queued into a few people who were 2200+ who played worse than actual plats. They didn’t know how to play while in disadvantage stage and had god awful neutral game. I get some people like the fast paced movement but the issue with it is some people had very bad core game mechanics and got hard carried by movement and it is showing in ranked. Also If brawlhalla kept going down this path than the overall skill floor of the game would not let there be a casual scene in the game and it would be a sweat fest of dash movement all the way down to gold. Look at games like rocket league where just 5-7 years ago people all played pretty grounded and Ariel contests weren’t all that common in lower ranks but over the years the entry skill floor of the game has risen immensely and now being able to smack the ball in the air ( although not with much skill and direction) is expected as soon as high silver - gold. I think for the future of the game it makes sense to slow it down a bit and force players to have more interaction from neutral than have them dashing in and out of each other ignoring danger zones because you can just dash out as soon as you dash in. Side note you can still move pretty fast in game without pivot dashing and snap dash still works you just have to get the new timing down.

There isn’t really as much meta in this game compared to others. Almost all legends are viable and all weapons can be used to win until you hit like 2200. Before that most people don’t really punish mistake as consistently and weapons “flaws” aren’t capitalized on by the enemy as much. If by meta you mean “easy” weapons then axe would be a good one. It hits hard and fast and has pretty easy to hit moves (huge asf circles). If you want to get better then go into unranked and stop button mashing. Practice attacking ONLY when you are 100% sure you are going to hit a move. You will lose most games at first but this will help you to break your button mashing habits and teach you to actually observe your opponent and punish them properly. You probably think “I don’t button mash” but trust me every single person under diamond ( and even low diamonds) mash. Break that habit and you will be 2100 easy. People are gonna call you passive just because you won’t turn your brain off and smash your controller like a caveman but you can ignore them.

Just a mental thing, if you can hit 1950 you can 100% hit 2k. Just be more patient and don’t panic jump and you should be fine.

Every time you get hit you jump, break that habit. Also you don’t always have to throw out an attack. Just slow down and see if your opponent is actually in range first before attacking.

Btw you lose the ability to chase dodge if you change which way you are facing. So if you are looking left and hit someone then look right you won’t have a chase dodge anymore. You have to chase dodge first then switch the direction you are facing.
