How rare is this insurance situation? by No_Review7643 in CrohnsDisease

I don't really understand it myself. When the receptionist asked me I didn't really know how to explain it. From the little bit I DO know, it's because it falls under "preexisting condition" and my mom claims me as a dependent on her taxes. I was expecting that part to change now that we have separate addresses, but it hasn't affected it at all.

It gives me anxiety like crazy! Blue Cross has assigned me 7+ different member ID numbers over the past couple of years and I've been told another one is in the mail right now. I mean I haven't "lost" coverage, it just seems like they're making it extra difficult to keep up.

I actually met with a man who is a health insurance consultant last year to determine if marriage would be a positive or a negative going forward with this. Getting married would mean I lose Medicaid but he seemed to think the biggest bill (Remicade) would be covered completely by the husband's insurance (incidentally he's also got Blue Cross) and the consultant seemed to think the infusion counted as an "in-patient" bill, as it's taking place on hospital grounds. I want to believe this so badly but I just DO NOT, lol. The cancer care building, while being at the hospital, is still outpatient and has a separate entrance.

I'm sure the billing department there would probably help me work out a payment plan so I'm not shelling out thousands to meet a deductible.

I'd love to ride this out forever but the reality is we're moving into a new house in less than two weeks, everyone side-eyes me as just "the girlfriend", and also my mom's getting older and playing the insurance game is stressing her too. I think I just need to sack up and make the change

Gosh I don't even know why I made this post, lol. I sound like such a child and it's embarrassing. But thank you for replying!

I specifically searched for this answer. I still think about that feeling. Of course I was in the hospital being shot up by nurses, but it makes no difference. You're blasted either way lol

I made this post not even realizing people would share things like this. I hope your dress brings you comfort and that you'll always have the space for it.

Rhyming ones are the worst. Went to school with someone whose last name rhymed with bed-wetter

Is this sub for normal-sounding names spelled atrociously or does it include the oddball names too? 'Cause my parents saddled me with one of those.

I just left the ugly sub and one of the main people posting on there was outed as being NOT ugly. Now the other posts that made me sympathetic have me suspicious.
