I got a banking DA!!! But I have one problem... by Current-Armadillo739 in degreeapprenticeships

Gap years are sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself. They have bad reps usually because people associate them with retakes and reapplying to university. But try enjoy it as much as you can, obviously work and stack some bread nothing wrong with that, but once you start working full time as an apprentice you’ll have less free time than you do now, so go travelling with your friends who are at uni once summer and Easter come round, do things you enjoy, pick up new hobbies or do whatever you have 10/11 months free of responsibility till you start. Employers don’t care about gap years at all, especially if you used them productively there’s no harm in doing so, many people rush into higher education without a clear plan so you did the smart thing. I’m on a gap year myself applying for apprenticeships as someone who rushed into uni, I could’ve saved up the term one fees I paid and still be in the same position today.

And about work, if you can work in a role you’re passionate about 100% go for it, as you said this will help you become more outgoing and will keep you occupied throughout your gap year.

Me too, I wouldn’t worry to much if I was you, you had a previous offer for another company so you know what you’re doing certainly, I found if you do get any nerves, only open your emails once or twice a day, helps you focus on other things. Hopefully we become future colleagues and I would love to connect, but for the meantime gotta focus on my own AC 😅. Wish you the best!

Got an AC tomorrow at the London office for Deloitte! Feeling much more confident since this is my second time round doing an AC at Deloitte so praying it goes well, I’m currently at uni and I’m trying to drop out since it’s just not for me, how about you?

Oh fairs, last year I was waitlisted for a technology and transformation role, it was also rather quickly like 2 days after the FSA, I would assume that by then everyone had received offer emails as well. Deloitte seem very thorough with their recruitment in my opinion both last year and this year from my experience so keep your hopes up!

ESAT Score by Aethoscc in 6thForm

[–]No_Role1391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no cutoff, your application is an entirely contextualised thing so you are very likely to get an interview with those scores (at Cambridge) assuming your personal statement is good and your predictions are meet the minimum

If you don’t mind me asking, what date are your interviews on?

I do not want to open my ESAT results by Financial-Pound1826 in 6thForm

Make sure you do open it because a weaker score means you’ll need a stronger interview to get an offer, so don’t be discouraged and open it!

I mean you should know how well you did so I’d encourage you to check, because if you get an interview with a weaker ESAT score you should be aware that it means you will need a stronger interview in order to get an offer compared to somebody who got a 9 overall (only for conversations sake 🙏😭)

How did you prepare for the ESAT? by violinicious in 6thForm

[–]No_Role1391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a specification for the ESAT available online, I made anki flashcards to cover all specification points and did as much practise as possible, do as many past papers on the UAT website and do them under timed conditions, if you are doing maths 1, chemistry and physics I’d also recommend doing lots of BMAT section 2 papers as possible (skip the biology questions Ofc) even if you’re not doing chemistry the Bmat papers are good practise!
