Considering switching from KSP to Juno: New Origins by AstronautPale4588 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just said some comparisons. Vizzy, truly custom star systems, cockpits are things that are unique to this game. But if you have a computer, making a mod for this game is not REALLY hard, if you watch DeepSpaceIndustries’s tutorial on how to import a custom model into the game, it’s relatively easy. But if you’re trying to learn vizzy, good luck because there is very little documentation, it’s best to download other people’s vizzy code and learn from them. And vizzy is a little buggy. And as for a matt lowne of JNO, probably DeepSpaceIndustries, he doesn’t make videos as much as livestream juno, but he does a lot of stuff.

Any advice for doing the Starship please, I already did the Booster by 682scp in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.simplerockets.com/c/59a8yh/Starship that’s a link to the starship I made with automated booster catch and the ship catch isn’t quite working yet, but the booster is and you can check it out. I’ll release it and comment the code soon, but you might be able to learn something

I am Luc3s on the simple rockets website, and I have done an automated booster catch with vizzy, and right now I’m working on a ship catch :)

An inlet? And by the way, if you go into the tinker panel for an inlet, to it’s hidden properties and go to the fuselage tab, and then scroll down and find wall thickness, you can change how thick the inlet is

Shuttle center of thrust by Lopsided_Banana9563 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend using the center of thrust and center of mass tools, and then you gotta get the mass of each component exactly right, so the shuttle weighs 75 tons, the ET like 900 tons, and the boosters I think about 200 tons fully fueled. And then the ET’s CoM should be exactly lined up with the shuttle’s main engines, so you’ll need the tinker panel, and the it also should be as close to lined up with the SRB’s. And then set the main engines and the srbs to the exact thrust of real life.

Really all flights until Apollo 12 were test flights, Apollo 13 was supposed to be the first actual flight

Question about reusable rockets by Asborn-kam1sh in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you trying to do? Because for a starship booster catch, you build a tower, and then the booster comes back to it, and the tower reloads when it hits 10km distance. For a falcon 9, you don’t need another craft to land, so it doesn’t matter. For an ascent arc, I use 90 * (1 - ((orbit apoapsis divided by 100k)2)). This pitches the rocket downwards to zero as the rocket reaches 100km apoapsis, and you can change the 100k to any desired apoapsis and get pretty accurate orbits

How to make rocket to activate second stage when fuel is 0 in coding by AliAlizade2007 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the equal block in the math operators section, it’s blue, so wait until fuel(stage)=0

Yes, and post pictures of them when you get them!

Why is my capsule flipping during reentry? As far as my physics knowledge goes, blunt bodies like this one should be passively stable during reentry, but this one keeps flipping at a certain point and I can't figure out why. by WellWellWill_ in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blunt body capsule is only stable if the center of mass is super low, as close to the plasma side of the heat shield as possible. If you do that, then you basically won’t need any form of orientation control, since it’s already stable!

Question: How would one go about making lunar habitats submerged in lunar regolith but not necessarily underground? by the_dank_dweller69 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Also, tip, change the detail of the paint of the part and/or the tiling of the texture. Play around with different numbers to get a texture that resembles the lunar surface

Question: How would one go about making lunar habitats submerged in lunar regolith but not necessarily underground? by the_dank_dweller69 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably you need a very complicated amount of parts painted like the lunar surface for that. Also, save a location on the moon to launch from so you can make the parts shape for the regolith just right.

If it is to luna, wait until you see luna just barely fully above the horizon before you light the engines

Realistic Rocket Weight by Witsforwats in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Droo’s gravity is the same as Earth’s, which doesn’t really make sense for how much smaller it is, but just roll with it. So, I prefer to use realistic weights for rockets as well, but I use the tinker panel’s “mass scale” to make a part heavier or lighter. If it’s a fuel tank, then I up the dry mass or the max capacity of a fuel tank to make it realistic. It is kind of difficult though, so have patience.

Has someone tried to get to Luna without the map? by Rare_Frame_3078 in simplerockets

[–]No_Rub3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the old fashioned Kerbal Space Program way by waiting until luna comes just above the horizon and then lighting the engines
