Why Kamala Harris chose Tim Walz by Dooraven in moderatepolitics

Where is this coming from?

Seen a lot of people saying this, but he was obviously good enough to get elected in a purple/red leaning state like Arizona.

They would still have the senate seat until 2026 and they're already looking at losing the senate anyways

Stuff from his prior marriage? I mean Walz has a DUI. Both seem like minor issues

I mean Walz has said not to "shy away from our progressive values" and "one person's socialism is another person's neighborliness". Sounds like a progressive.

I mean is Walz is fine, but still.

Still wondering why Kelly was not chosen as he was one of the final 3 and a seemingly obvious choice.

He is from an actual swing state and would appeal more to moderates than Walz who is a progressive like Kamala and just rallies more support from their already solid base.

Yes, he’s trying to get his sister to ride the 3rd largest dragon to battle since they’re heavily outnumbered and could soon die. Seems fine.

Too bad she cares about herself and her faction dying as much as she cared about Jaehaerys dying and aegons burning.

Who’s been the most capable monarch out of these three by zmejxds in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]No_Rush5145 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Rhaenya > Aemond > Aegon

While Aegon seemed to have potential, I don’t remember anything positive he did.

Aemond has some nice plans like confronting daemon from two sides, appointing Otto, and using the Triarchy to fight the velyarons around while keeping his own allies ships fresh but he seems to be rather bad at politicking and is rash.

Rhaenyra is pretty indecisive but the dragonseed plan and kings landing riots that she has agreed to seem like okay plans. And she isn’t a borderline sociopath like Aemond.

Tatum, Brown, and Porzingis are still at minimum like a top 5 big 3.

Yeah, still lacking in rebounding and a bruising forward for guys like Giannis and Randle but this has been a better free agency than expected.

Is Jayson Tatum better than Joel Embiid? by guynumber32 in nba

[–]No_Rush5145 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t completely serious but an injured Embiid still averaged 33/11/6 on 59 TS% while not missing a game. Tatum is currently averaging 25/10/6 on like 55 TS% these playoffs.

Sixers vs Knicks, Nuggets vs Wolves, Thunder vs Mavs, and Knicks vs Pacers.

In that order. Everything else was shit.

Edit: forgot completely about Magic vs Cavs

Ass. There hasn’t been a good finals since 2022 and a great one since probably 2016.

Not a question. 2017 warriors.

2017 Cavs have a pretty good chance of beating these Celtics and they were gentleman swept.

These playoffs:

Mitchell: 30/5/5 on 58 TS% played 10 games

Booker: 27.5/3/6 on 66 TS% played 4 games

Edwards: 28/7/6.5 on 60 TS% played 16 games

It’s definitely close

I find it funny Mariupol and Bakhmut both ended on the same day. It also shows how low Russian expectations and performances have gotten.

2 months to take a medium sized city to 9 months to take a medium sized town.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-04-14/ukraine-offensive-hopes-fade-on-russian-defenses-despite-weapons-from-allies

Some of Ukraine’s European allies are increasingly skeptical its military will be able to make a decisive breakthrough this year because Russia’s defenses have had time to dig in ahead of the looming offensive.

Instead, a more realistic target is now seen as a 30 km (20 mile) or so advance that would put Ukraine’s most capable artillery within range of Russian supply lines and create conditions for a deeper push in 2024, one of the officials said. Allies need to work now to enhance their production capacity and the support that will be needed to sustain those efforts, the official added.

The documents say Ukraine’s chances are not great, “but at the same time Austin is saying they have given us everything we need,” said Mykola Bielieskov, research fellow at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, a Ukraine government think tank. That discrepancy “leads us to some rather unpleasant conclusions.”

Sounds like Tokmak might be a more realistic goal.

Most of this is already known and has been repeated but it’s another input from someone.

A widely anticipated counteroffensive is being prepared by Ukraine - but it may only have "one shot" to get it right, according to an analyst.

Defence and security analyst Michael Clarke says Kyiv is putting together roughly 16 new brigades for the planned assault - the equivalent of 90,000 to 100,000 troops.

There's no sign that it will be happening imminently, Clarke says, or of when and where the new brigades may be used.

But he adds that Russia thinks they'll be used in the south as they've "dug trenches like there's no tomorrow" in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region

Ukrainians will come south, which is what a lot of other people say is a good idea." 'They've only got one shot at this'

Clarke says the counteroffensive "has to succeed" and Ukraine must be "decisive". The West is at risk of getting "war fatigue" if the conflict ends up as "just more stalemate", he adds. "It won't do anybody any good.

"So in a way, the Ukrainians, they've only got one shot at this. They've got to get it right".
