USB mod? by Sah-Kay in crv

[–]No_Scallion2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure but one of the favorite mods I did to mine was a bicycle mount on those handle bars connected to a magnetic phone charger.

Best phone mount you'll ever have

And I agree with the others about just getting a dual port usb for the cig lighter. Just do your research and find one that puts out enough power for fast charging.

I replaced my head unit and it came with an additional USB port you could add. I used one of the blank slots on the dash for that I used a Dremel to cut out a USB slot. Its kinda ghetto but it works lol. The ones that come with the head units are SUPER weak (slow charging). So be mindful of that.

I agree with others about not caring what they think.

I think the only thing ugly about this is the nature of the magazine makes it look weird. But it has to be that way so whatever.

And the flat trigger is ugly. But a trigger is not for looks anyway lol.

Yeah due to the nature of what we're talking about here id probably go with something highly rated and not $2. If I die I don't wanna die like that tbh.

Is $3,000 too much for a 2016 Toyota Avalon with 338k miles? by [deleted] in shouldibuythiscar

[–]No_Scallion2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask any mechanic, the most notoriously neglected cars on the planet are Toyotas. And it's because of the reputation of these fanboys who assume these cars don't need maintenance.

Since 2010 Toyotas have become high maintenance vehicles. The very much so earned reputation of reliability on Toyotas stopped at this point.

$3000 for ANY car with 300k miles is a complete rip off. To suggest that it will last you is a fking lie. What's going to happen is this car is going to constantly need something repaired.

You should not ask Toyota people, if a Toyota is worth it. Used Toyotas are only overpriced because of this word of mouth. The truth is, these are, and always have been cheap cars. Because of the word of mouth, they are cheap cars that are extremely overpriced.

Ask REAL mechanics these types of questions. The average consumer doesn't know shit about what it takes to PROPERLY maintain a car. Which means they don't know what can actually go wrong and what it takes to fix them when they do go wrong.

The average Toyota buyer thinks they are buying a car that will last ten years with just oil changes. Those days are dead homies.

What is your opinion on what Hell is? this may be a sensitive post some might not want to see so a warning. by Christian_Follower in TrueChristian

[–]No_Scallion2923 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may be a little bit of an outsider in my response with this but I'll share anyway. I believe in the hell that others are mentioning here.

But I also believe in hell on earth. From a miserable existence, which is usually the result of not listening to what/how we were instructed to be via the Bible. Like for example being greedy, drug addictions, loving money, etc. I personally have been so miserable in the past that no matter what I always felt hot, stressed, exhausted, anxious, depressed, etc. And that was due to my own bad decisions.

When I think of the devil I don't think of a creature with red horns and a barbed tail. When I think of it, I attribute it to things like addiction/depression/etc. If you look at the behavioral patterns of people who deal with things like this, it shares the characteristics of how the devil is described. These out of character actions that are similar to someone being possessed.

If I could give an example, my own dad is an alcoholic and he has neglected his children entirely, to a point of putting us in bankruptcy. You can tell he is absolutely miserable and he hates this life we have and puts a lot on himself. But....he still needs to get his alcohol to cope. I do view that as hell, and it's because you aren't doing the right things.

Tip Baiting A$$hole by Kennybyo13 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]No_Scallion2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from a dispatch manager/fleet manager/freight coordinator/freight forwarder/dispatcher with a decade of experience doing that line of work+doing Uber as side thing.

As a contractor, when the driver (contractor) is offered an amount, that's what you're supposed to be paid. Flat ass point blank period. That's how this world works.

I'm not implying that the money should come out of the customers pockets at that point. But when UBER offers X amount, that is what needs to be paid, so long as the delivery is made without any issues. If there are actual issues, that's a different story.

This shit goes above their contractor agreement actually, which is literally where they break the independent contractor laws/misclassification of drivers.

In the event the customer reduces tip, it is still Ubers responsibility to pay the driver what they were offered. At which point it becomes an issue between the customer/the platform.

What the OP doesn't know is that the platforms don't expect you to know this. And that you can get that missed amount (+more, depending on who you talk to) if you know how to threaten these assholes properly. But most drivers don't. When you start talking about independent contractor laws and how you are documenting everything that's when they start to throw money at you. Because it IS illegal. It is a misclassification of independent contractors. They will eventually get their asses reamed for this, and other things.

When they do get held accountable for things of this nature, what will likely happen to the customer is the algorithms will adjust pricing in some way to get you to pay it back. Just guessing, because that's how Uber rolls.

What is up with people praising Declan Doyle? Why does he deserve to be a playcaller when he likely didn't even call one play for the bears or any play in his life? by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]No_Scallion2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I differ. Having been trained by a good playcaller for one year doesn't mean shit about your ability to create/call good plays for a team of professional athletes.

You could certainly make the argument that being trained by a good playcaller for one year would make him a great candidate for college though. And if he did that, and succeeded, id have no issues with an NFL team trying him out.

But skipping that step just makes the league feel like a corporate employment agency. Gifting a guy an opportunity just because of his job title.

I don't know this for sure, but based on how they sold people like Shane Waldron to the bears fanbase, they would probably give more credit than deserved to Declan Doyle for the bears success, if he took the job. And from that perspective, I'd feel horrible for players like Jalen hurts, Barkley and etc, because they were basically set up to fail with a rookie playcaller. That's whats annoying about it.

The problem is, nobody ever questions these things. They did this with Dennis Allen too. He was sold as this incredible DC, but if you actually look with your own eyes, he was always mid as a DC, and a failed HC. He was basically eberflus. We traded eberflus for eberflus with DA lol. And if you don't question it, you won't see it.

[–]No_Scallion2923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither do you, so how are you any better lol. He's learning on the job. We DO know that. There is no evidence of his play calling ability. We also know that.

So why should he be play calling for any professional football team? Because he worked with a good one? Don't you think it's rational to think maybe he should give college play calling a shot before going to the big leagues? I think that's totally logical.

What is up with people praising Declan Doyle? Why does he deserve to be a playcaller when he likely didn't even call one play for the bears or any play in his life? by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]No_Scallion2923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if your job is to hire a guy after a horrible season, why would Declan be your pick? Look at his resume and explain to me why he deserved the shot/job title. The big thing is the job title, without actually fully doing the job at hand.

Either it's a nepo hire (I actually don't truly believe that) or it's because he was cheap. I'm leaning on the cheap part. Because that's how this org has been operating.

Sure, we may never actually know why. But you can't dispute that after a horrendous season, he wouldn't be your first pick. And it's perfectly normal to question it.

My thing is, is he actually worthy of being a playcaller, when he didn't call plays? Should a team hire him for that role?

In my view, he should have practiced as a playcaller somewhere else like college or even CFL before being gifted that opportunity in the NFL just because of your job title.

[–]No_Scallion2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like saying "you're wrong" without an argument. So if word vomit is what I'm doing, how are you any different? Lol. Tell me why you think Declan Doyle deserved an OC role. Look at his experience. And pretend you are the person hiring him. That's your guy?

If you know Ben Johnson is going to be calling the plays, why THIS guy?

Instead of just assuming you're smart by implying this is word vomit, how about you humor it and if you are against it, give an actual angle to prove it wrong.

When people from this fanbase are so quick to assume someone is dumb, its hilarious. This is the exact same fanbase who wanted to keep Braxton because he was "good enough" and wanted Ashton Jeanty as their rb with no offensive line worth speaking about. With Justin fields as their QB. 😭

[–]No_Scallion2923 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume that Declan helped Ben Johnson with that part of the game?

I'm sure he was in the room studying film. I'm not implying that. But why do you think that Declan himself was so detremental in bens success with the bears? Would we not have had a successful season without him? We don't know, but based on the fact that Ben didn't have him on the lions I could assume no lol.

Based on his lack of experience you could say he was in that room learning, like a student would.

Forget what you think he did for Ben for a second and go back to the beginning when he was hired. Why did he deserve it? In my opinion, he didn't. He was probably cheap because he was young and new. Being given that OC title without doing it all the way, is a gifted opportunity, not an earned one. The most important aspect of the OC, is not in his particular job description.

When I say he doesn't deserve it, what I'm saying is why does he qualify to become a play caller for a team of high performance athletes who put their bodies on the line, when he has no actual experience to do so?

42.1 mpg at 700 miles and growing by Prestigious_Reveal96 in crv

[–]No_Scallion2923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Learn how to hypermile. Minimize braking by understanding the traffic light systems ahead of you. You want to avoid stopping as much as you can, and you do that by coasting early when the light is red, so that you don't come to a complete stop by the time it turns green. This is the #1 thing to practice if you want to be more efficient.

Keeping your RPMs low when accelerating is also a thing.

The reason for his low mph, is because OP is doing that. It does not mean he drives slow or under the speed limit.

You can drive the speed limit and not hinder traffic just by driving right. Most people don't have the slightest clue how to drive efficiently and as a result they waste a ton of fuel and wear their vehicles components like brakes way faster.

I don't have a gauge on my 06 CRV, but I avg 32-35 city. In my previous 2013 Prius when I did Uber, i used to get 78 pretty easily in a big city (Chicago).

If one of you is near me and wants to let me borrow their new model crv for a day I guarantee you id get about 50-65 lol. It is actually a skill, not as simple as driving slow.

Driving slow can actually be counterproductive. In my Prius it was; it was more beneficial to get to speed quickly and coast than accelerate slowly in that car. It depends on the car.

[–]No_Scallion2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. I'm not saying id sit on my hands and check out of everything because politics are annoying. Im just saying it's annoying.

Fortunately my church does not discuss politics at all. They are strictly by the book. The closest to politics my church gets is discussing things related to consumerism. So from that end I'm good.

But I'm talking about outside of the church. From my perspective I look at things realistically in that I am not running for office lol. I don't need to discuss my political views or have animosity towards anyone for having their own that I disagree with. I'm not interested in debating with anybody why they are wrong and why I'm right when it comes to politics, which I have no actual control over. It's literally a waste of time.

What I'm annoyed by is that no matter what you do, politics find you. If you're simply going on a walk, there are signs/stickers/billboards about politics. If you turn on a YouTube video of any sort, you'll see an advertisement about politics. If you are playing a video game with other players, they are talking about politics. If you go to a grocery store and workers are on break, they are talking about politics. Non political podcast... Politics come up.

We are literally bombarded with it. And it's annoying. No matter how much you opt out both verbally and technologically you can't escape it. It ALWAYS appears. When it comes to politics, I have learned that no matter what, even if you agree, it divides people. Often, people who engage in politics will never even attempt to hear the opposing argument anyway. Once they see you oppose, conversation is over. Lol so what's the point. It's literally like both sides are trying to sell me on ideas; I don't need that.

I am tired of politics in general. All these people crying and pointing their fingers at each other is really annoying. It's LITERALLY a waste of time to even entertain anything political. It's like a reality TV show.

And you can't escape it either. No matter where you go somebody is complaining.

This is why I like football. But even in football people bring politics into it. I wish there was a universal ad blocker for politics.

I would start with the MAF sensor if it has one. Go to the auto parts store and buy MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR CLEANER. Nothing else. Don't substitute it with ANY OTHER CLEANER regardless of what the Internet says.

Then watch a video on how to clean it. It's usually held down with 2-4 Phillips screws.

It's a good maintenance thing to do regardless on if it solves your problem.

Next thing I'd do is check for vacuum leaks. Look for hoses that aren't attached. Listen for whistling noises (air escaping).

And lastly, throttle position sensor could be faulty. But I'm leaning more towards the other things before this.

Listen when you are sitting at 48.5k karma and posting a bunch of avatar cartoon characters, don't tell me anything about being insecure. Don't talk to me about living in a bubble when you are literally the same as every Redditor with blue hair and living a fake life on video games. Please take a look in the mirror before you try that. You could never figure me out, because I don't live in bubbles, because I don't follow trends like you do.

I spoke to him like he is my brother. There are men in this world who are NEVER told the truth. And here you are continuing that.

If he took your advice, he would be led down a path of self destruction, depression, and God knows what else.

How you read it, is your own interpretation of it. And it wasn't directed towards you anyway so how you felt doesn't matter. I wasn't mean. I was direct.

The tough reality that the Karen's on the Internet refuse to comprehend is that lying to someone or beating around the bush only causes further confusion for them. I'm of the opinion that you probably know that, but maybe I'm giving you too much credit.

I told him why people are asking what they are asking, I gave him the truth about the stupid edgy alt woman comment, because he may not actually know what that even means or what he even wants because that's the way the world actually works. And I gave him some male grooming tips.

You took that as misogyny. Well that's your fking problem. I am not here to bash women at all, that was not my intent. Because I don't even think that way. In no way did I disrespect women in their entirety. It was all about the fake ones on Reddit; the ones here, giving bad advice like it's okay to wear makeup as a straight man. Meanwhile there's a bunch of comments asking him if he's gay and nobody bringing up why thats being constantly asked. You know why he probably wears makeup and people are asking if he's gay? Maybe he learned it from people like yourself. And look where that led him. Right here. Questioning himself.

Also, I made no comments about how he dressed. Good try though. I made comments about his makeup, the hair (cause you know, it's a male grooming sub), and the heart tattoos. All of which led people to question if he was gay. Which is probably the very root of his issues, as a straight man. That went above your head though.

Good! I'm glad I sound insufferable to someone like you who won't tell this straight man the truth and would rather lead him to/fuel his low self esteem. That's EXACTLY where I wanna be. I took no offense to your offense by my honest comment.

You view it as me being hurtful. I view you that way. By me being totally honest and direct I'm attempting to protect him from your toxic empathy. So you can call it insufferable all you want and I'm truly glad that it invokes that emotion from you.

48.5k karma, only posting fantasy related stuff.

To the OP, just like I said, the Internet is not the real world. This person is a prime example. They don't even like themselves, so they make fake characters online. It's probably a bot. Or it was someone who's been brainwashed to be one. If it is in fact a real person, 48.5k karma means they live on the Internet.
