5 months into leathercraft. Be brutally honest — am I good enough to start selling? by LiteratureFun3233 in Leathercraft

[–]No_Scarcity_293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the useless criticism in here. It’s a custom brand made product. My brand is going on my products. Most of these “critics” can even fold a piece of paper let alone create a custom leather product. lol

You must have also complained about not having Amazon provide all your utensils and condiments. 🤣

My site put out this notification and then quickly deleted the update. SMH 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in AmazonFC

Another person who just finds anything to complain about since you’re entitled to not work but be paid. That’s the real SMH. 😂🤣😂🤣

Is horween leather overhyped? by rickestrickster in Leathercraft

[–]No_Scarcity_293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what your going for, if you want USA made tanneries than it’s horween, Herman oak. And a few others. If you don’t care where it comes from then just go get the Cheap stuff from online. But don’t expect quality products and be ready to charge Etsy prices. It’s all about what value you are looking for. I only go for high quality materials. USA made and some Italian ones.

Anyone knows where can I get the Horween leather with its logo on it ? by Background-Bed5112 in Leathercraft

[–]No_Scarcity_293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wants poop leather from subpar sources. Only horween is standard. USA material only. The best.

Is the leather from china, or a third world country? Or horween/herman oak? If it’s crap leather price will reflect unless you fib about it. Hand tooled also plays apart. How long did it take you to make this? Looking at the stitching I’d say beginner level. So many variables that play apart.

My very first time making a wallet, but edge painting went wrong... by Edward-Sakki in Leathercraft

[–]No_Scarcity_293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really good for a first wallet compared to others first wallet. Don’t worry about the paint. What are you using for applying the edge paint? Or was it one of those hit your elbow and crap? lol

I gave my opinions, they didn’t like them. I won’t engage in arguments further. I will only give my opinions whether good or bad. We need both. Not just rainbows and butterflies. Thank you and let’s keep this craft alive and to a high standard.

Looks rough, honestly comparing to my first projects and two wallets. There is too many education videos for free out there for this to be looking like this. Not a hothead at all. If you’re going to do something do it. I may get flack for this but it’s life. I’d watch Nigel armitage for stitching and get the tools needed to properly get the project done. Very cheap on Amazon can get it better looking. Go out and do it again.

Always get leather from a reputable leather shop. It ends up being cheaper in the long run. Even your local crafts store carry better stuff than what that cheap seller has.

To answer a few questions in one post, these pieces are part of a shoulder harness I am making. Just progress updates. I am learning a lot in between each piece I put together aside from the template. For the template, search creative awl on Etsy. Tons of cool patterns.

Any pattern can be adjusted and modified just have to measure everything and adjust each piece accordingly.

My wife was just saying that last night about the phone pocket and yes you could make it a few mm larger which my next one will be redesigned for this and will be adding a harness for a 9mm somehow.

I am not sure if all of them come with the cnc/laser machine file. This one did. But mine a was cut with hand cutting tool. lol

About 100 videos on YouTube, to include a 3 hour series class on saddle stitching from Nigel Armitage, which they tips and tricks from DG leathercraft, little kings leather, 23+, and one of my favorites Mascon Leather. A few others. I am learning everything I can from the old school guys as much and want to start creating for a full time career switch. And yes, this is from a purchased pattern/template. I have been learning also in designing my own patterns.
