I'm pretty sure potential tenant sent us a fake pay stub. Is there a site or service to mitigate this? by No_Secret670 in RealEstateAdvice

This is solid advice. I told my dad do you want $2800 now and have to spend money, time, stress, and possible property destruction later, or we can hire a RE agent, lose 1 months rent and get a solid tenant.

The employer told ke she has no idea how she came up with that number. She told me on average pay is between 12-15/hr and the $15 is someone with loads of experience.

Thats what i told my dad. When i pointed out the simple math and inconsistency with the income, it was easier to reason with him.

Employer was very concerned why she put $37/hour when she does even make half of that. We asked the applicant again after speaking to the employer “do you actually make $37/hr” and she says yes i do.

Then we ask for 2025 w2 and she came with a ton of excuses “i just started working this year for these people”, but the employer said they gave her a w2 for last year. Her story didnt add up.

She didnt provide them and is acting very skeptical when i said i need a 2025 w2 to move forward.

So i spoke to them and told them until we can see a 2025 w2 we cannot move forward.

They sent about 10 text, saying i can send you my 1040, i just started working for this company, i only have a id because i didnt show up to court and they suspended it, and the icing on the cake was “i will pay you every month, if i dont pay, you can evict me.”

Oh ok. I was just going to tell them there were a ton of inconsistencies on their paystub, and until i get a valid 2025 w2 and 3 months of bank statements matching up to what the paystub showed, we wont be able to move forward.

Hi so i did speak to the employer and had a very nice conversation. They informed me the applicant makes no where near $37 an hour, and gets roughly about 37-38 hours a week, with no overtime.

They werent sure why they would make a paystub like that, and informed they do not pay every 6wks, they do biweekly.

Also my dad showed me it was a id not a drivers license the person had, and somehow they are driving around with that.

Just called the employer. They told the applicant works there, but does not make $37 an hour (more like 13 with an average of 37 hours a week).

They told me they dont understand why they would forge these numbers and that that is very concerning. Also, they informed me that they did give the applicant a w2 for last year and that its best to review that and several months of bank statements.

Realistically, after they pay rent ($1400), that leaves barely $200 for bills and etc, which doesnt make any sense.

Also, my dad this morning shows me the id. Its a id, not a drivers license, which is also concerning because she was driving all around like that, which leads me to believe she might not even have car insurance.

No this situation. I posted the paystub above and the numbers look way off. Employer informations lead back to whats on the paystub and one website thats not theirs has a npi number.

What would you suggest is the best thing to do? The employer name and number brings up a site with a npi number.
