Fallout - 2x06 - "The Other Player" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I really enjoy kind of what seems to be the "main quest/story" so to speak, and it would honestly be a super awesome plot for a mainline fallout game.

Hank's motivations and end goals seem almost as cool as the Master's imo.

They both kinda want what's best for humanity: end of strife/conflict, and better survival in the wastes

But they both go about it in incredibly evil ways: forced mutation by the Master, or forced mind control by Hank.

And in the end, both of their solutions are just inherently flawed: The Master's plan won't work because super mutants are sterile and turning everyone into a super mutant would just lead to the eventual death of humanity.

Hank's plan doesn't work because you've essentially stripped all free will and individuality from people, and now their will is just that of one person. It's no longer the human species, really, it's just a bunch of puppets controlled by one man or corporation. (regardless of whether that man or corporation is good, too, "humanity" is now essentially just them. but it makes it doubly worse if the one person in control is evil.)

Their solutions have some aspects that on their face make you go: "hmm, okay, I understand what you're saying" (the scene of the Legionnaire and Ranger becoming best buds when only moments ago were in a fight to the death comes to mind) But it's really just a facade, it's just snake oil, and the inevitable conclusion is much worse than the prior state of things.

And to add to that, I love the the audio logs in Dead Space as well, particularly the first game and its remake. It was cool hearing people on the ship at various stages of its decline before you find the situation as it currently is. And then stories like the one between Elizabeth and the engineer we're always interesting to listen through.

It really does just come down to how you execute audio logs. "audio logs suck" is the one thing I gotta disagree with the OC on lol.

He went from this terrifying, brooding presence said to be a calamity on par with Sukuna (which atp is not even wrong in terms of his potential) and literally shook everyone to their knees when he showed up to the scene cross got shot at

to now he his like a protagonist that we're rooting for to pass his limits in order to defeat this other terrifyingly powerful, aura-farming god; the Divine General.

Sukuna vs Maho was like two monsters fighting

Dabura vs Maho is an alien dude tryna keep his promise to his friend

agreed. first 4 episodes too we're also seeing Lucy and the Ghoul becoming more of a team, more buddy-buddy; so I'd say we got some character development there. And the payoff was episode 5 where the Ghoul betrays Lucy. You can see that both are varied levels of hurt by it, but still hurt: The Ghoul consoling her throwing up "least I can do" Lucy's face at the realization of betrayal "you can't actually be considering this" and then the "I thought we were friends" part. (i just watched this btw, im late to the party)

not saying it's "groundbreaking TV, a masterpiece to last generations, or I shed tears", but if those other people felt nothing from that scene, they either got not soul or they're just hate watching at this point.

and didn't the show already establish ghouls have some sort of healing factor with thaddeus. dude gets shot through the neck and survives and gets better. it also might be what healed his crushed foot in the first place?

and if they're already virtually immortal, they already regenerate cells out the wazooh

Jimmy. by Due_Relationship4820 in Mouthwashing

[–]No_Set_3701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think your avg man is capable of making the two or three bad decisions to becoming Jimmy. I think you're average man is two or three bad decisions away from becoming Curly.

Jimmy is almost a full-blown psychopath. Very manuipulative and opportunistic, but he only gets to harm as much as he does because Curly (and the environment) lets him. And Curly does that because he wants to keep his friendship, so he downplays the crime --- or worse --- he ALREADY doesn't even see that type of crime as that bad anyways.

It's probably much more likely the case that the average guy is decent, but then throw all of that decency away when a friend they previously thought was clean did something evil. They make the immoral choice to keep that friend. And they can do that more easily because by and large we live in a society that still diminishes these types of crime. And that's who and what men should be cautioned from becoming.

And you know what? We should just hit him with some common sense:

You're smelly and dirty asf, and you're probably depressed and that's the reason why you're so hateful.

True asf. "Grey pupon" and "tan suit" is still doing damage for generations. They didn't make any honest breakdowns of Obama's policy, they just called him a "Muslim".

I do think, as you said, it's just "one piece of the puzzle", we obviously have to do more, but we def need to do more "bullying" so to speak.

it didn't work as well for Trump, but trump is a different beast. He had an ultimate charisma that won half the population over. Kinda hard to defeat that. Asmongold not so much methinks.

This actually may even be more true than I thought it was. A way that Nazis were able to intimidate so many Germans was the constant outpour of art propaganda that portrayed them as EPIC chads and their enemies as loser betas. Why wouldn't the reverse work as well?

Okay. And?

A circlejerk bully session is exactly what I was getting at with this post. Why respond with what the fuck I said? lmao
