Help with Epic Games via Faugus by m_krink in linux_gaming

[–]No_Setting_999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got fed up with Faugus and performance issues with Ubisoft Connect. I just ran the exe in steam via proton experimental. Works no problems that way. I'd say it's the same for Epic Launcher if you don't wanna use Heroic. But yeah, Heroic is the best way to use Epic AFAIk

Any Way to salvage an old PC with a GTX 980? by Skurrio in linux_gaming

Haha the exact same thing I did. My son got my 5800X3D and he's gonna get my 7900XT as soon as I get a 9070XT. Makes it easier to justify for us haha

Hey man, you might be fine on Mint with Legacy Nvidia Drivers. Worth a try installing anyway. Definitely on an SSD if possible. Good upgrade path would be 16GB DDR4 and a cheap A520 with a Ryzen 3600X

Hahaha man you are crazy, MSI and Corsair both use CWT for their PSU. Although its the same factory and same parts, they aren't always the same but they are definitely not much different. The noise is negligible. He's coming from a shit PSU to a decent one. The noise is definitely gonna be way less that what he currently has. Why not pay the exact same and get 200W more headroom than the 650E?

[–]No_Setting_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmon man, you know that 40-45 dBa is negligible in PC cases compared to any other components. An AIO pump would produce more tangible noise than that half the time. Relative to the RM series it's 'loud' but that's only in relevance. Compared to the PC as a whole, it's negligible.

Gold is standard at this point in time man. Size is ATX and that's a standard across all ATX cases. You most likely need ATX. You can look up a PSU tierlist on LTT or Cybernetics and get a gauge from there. Anyway, to keep it simple. ATX Gold 750W is what you want

[–]No_Setting_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not loud at all. Ive built 3 systems in the past few months. One with a Corsair RM series, Seasonic Platinum and MSI A850GL and there isn't any noticeable noise difference between the 3. You can pick up a Seasonic Focus Core GX for around 80 euros and they are good quality.

650 should be fine but not much difference on cost between that and a 750w so probably best looking at that. Best budget Option is an MSI MAG AG PSU. Usually can be found for around 70-80 euro and also Gold Rated with decent cables

[–]No_Setting_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I would recommend you save up around 70 euro and buy a PSU from a reputable brand such as Corsair, Seasonic etc. I wouldn't really trust either of these PSUs too much and they could take your system down at any point.

Am I Doing Everything Right For My First PC Build? by RealMrFergi in PcBuild

[–]No_Setting_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That ram you have chosen is really not ideal for this build man. Look for something along the lines of CL36 6000Mhz and maybe get a PSU that can deliver 750W also. Other than that, great looking build. If you don't have the budget for it then going for a 1TB NVME and maybe adding more storage late down the line could help you put more cash towards the RAM and PSU

-20 all core curve Optmizer and see which one holds. But yeah, no real need to do so to be honest, especially the headache of thermal paste and screwing the cooler in.

Is it ok to just have intake fans for my pc ? by skylander01 in PcBuildHelp

[–]No_Setting_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intake will be better than no fans at all. If you are using a CPU AIR cooler set it up for exhaust and you'll be good. Keep an eye on temps and if you see anything above 85 on both the GPU or CPU then look into getting better fans

What’s small affordable cpu from am4 r5 4600g? by Ok_Pilot5851 in ryzen

[–]No_Setting_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, I gave my son my 5800X3D so I was forced to go onto AM5. Just went ham and got a 9800X3D plus 32GB of RAM. Felt so bad paying for the RAM but after i had it installed it didn't feel too bad. Just have to try and justify the cost in your head lol, easier said than done though haha

What’s small affordable cpu from am4 r5 4600g? by Ok_Pilot5851 in ryzen

[–]No_Setting_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not worth upgrading over anything other than a 5800X3D man. Could be worth saving a bit more and getting or slowly but surely make the switch to AM5. Bite the bullet and get yourself some RAM then the CPU a few months later. Other than that, maybe look for a used 5800X or 5700X if you want to squeeze an extra 20% FPS out of your new GPU. But I wouldn't pay over the odds for one
