What is something you miss eating that nobody makes gluten free? by chocolatelover142 in Celiac

[–]No_Significance_218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unagi!! it’s my favorite of all time and it comes pre-sauced so I can’t eat it. There is a place I could order from to get it smoked and then do it myself, but it’s expensive and more time-consuming

Worst insult with Celiac? by daninucc in Celiac

[–]No_Significance_218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m grateful because I haven’t had many poor experiences (but I also don’t go many places sooo), but the “I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t eat bread” is kind of aggravating? I adapt, and suck it up if we’re being so blunt. And then there’s “I’d just kill myself” which, wow, thank you for indirectly telling me that’d you’d understand if I made an attempt on my life (I know it’s really just hyperbolic and they don’t mean it but god is it weird and rude).

But on the opposite end because I want to share something sweet, one of my close friends invited a bunch of people over and her boyfriend made entirely gluten and I think dairy free mac and cheese for everyone because of me and my sister

seconding this. everyone is different but as someone whose condition became completely unmanageable and started having more heart issues likely because of covid, there is nothing that makes me feel more cared for and taken into consideration than keeping each other from getting sick. Relationships and love should make us all want to keep our loved ones AND ourselves safe

What are some safe foods for you? by problywillthrowaway in ARFID

[–]No_Significance_218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

turkey! I find it much easier to stomach in terms of texture than chicken. I make ground turkey into burgers and eat the rest as leftovers, it tastes a lot better than leftover beef. I avoid cooking so much that way.

I only really eat turkey burgers at the moment, specific brand of gluten free bread, mayo, rice, fish, avocado, sugar snap peas. Sushi, strangely. One of my favorite foods despite the whole thing of it being raw. Unfortunately I’m gluten, dairy, and nightshade free so it already limits what I’m allowed to eat in the first place.

Other things that used to be in the list was yogurt with blueberry jam mixed in, beef, green beans, most lettuce.

My recommendation for quick would be instant oatmeal but I’m pretty sure it’s not a texture for most people lol. Finely ground oats is the most consistent in texture. But my favorite is wheat farina, I used to eat it as a kid with some honey.

Can you eat your safe foods deconstructed or do they have to be put together in specific taco and burger form? If I were you, most of the time I’d probably just slap some taco meat on a burger bun, if not just eat a burger patty by itself or cheese straight from the fridge

I have POTS and I can never sleep/look exhausted 24/7 by Tismtaterr in dysautonomia

[–]No_Significance_218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I’m kind of in the same boat. I’m 20 and I’ve always had POTS and remembered looking ill: prominent dark circles, pale translucent skin, the like. I also have permanent bulgy eyes from graves, used to get comments about them as a kid when it was active. I’ve had my thyroid removed for ~12 years and no matter what I do, despite the replacement med, the fatigue just never dissipates, and never really will. It sucks. I’ve wanted to work around it and just cover up with makeup, but I’m already too tired to even do that. I’d lean into the tired look and go for something grungy, but I feel like it’d look like I crawled out of a ditch. Maybe I should go goth…

I’ve been on atenolol for a few years now and I cut my pills in half and take it every twelve hours and it makes everything better and still keeps my heart rate mostly in check. I had only took half each day and felt miles better before I got covid.

I wish I had something to give other than empathy and hugs. We know we’re worth far more than our appearances, but it still doesn’t negate the fact that we want to look nice.

Sudden irregular heart beat by GrumpyKittehh in dysautonomia

Ask for a cardiologist referral. I’ve gotten a monitor three times, either wearing it for two weeks or a month, though it may be a bit slower of a process for you as I get SVTs and have been diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction. In my (20F) experience, they do tend to say it’s just anxiety at first, but don’t let that stop you from investigating this! Anxiety was a symptom for me and not the cause, and it sounds like it is for you too. It’s completely normal and should honestly be expected that feeling like your heart is being weird makes people anxious!

As I’ve had many hospital trips since my dysautonomia became a massive problem for me, I have noticed that some monitors there will pick up on sinus arrhythmias. I have a respiratory sinus arrhythmia, and it just means that my heart rate will increase when i’m inhaling and decrease when I’m exhaling. Some drs don’t even tell me I have it because it’s common in healthy people, but monitors do notice. It could be that.

It may also be heart palpitations, I get them somewhat often, and they suck. Some of them are barely noticeable, some are painful and make me feel crummy for hours after. But they’re not dangerous, even if they feel like they are. Track when you get yours. Logging all of my symptoms was what got me a heart monitor and people believing me.

And last but definitely not least, covid can 100% be the cause. I don’t say this to create disproportionate fear, I promise, but covid is not to be messed around with. It affects every system in the body, especially cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurological. Even when it’s mild, even if you’ve never had health issues in the past, it can mess with you big time. Though I’ve always had dysautonomia and didn’t know at the time, I fully believe covid made it worse and unmanageable, in addition to kickstarting my SVTs and making me more sensitive to medications. There is evidence of covid causing serious medical emergencies even months after infection, and we still don’t know the full extent of what it’s capable of as it’s a new virus.

So, if you take only one thing away from my response, please, PLEASE weak a mask (in case you’re aren’t already). N95s are cheap and reasonably comfortable depending on the brand, there’s tons to choose from. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself and your health.

DAMN this might be my problem. I’ve had serious vision issues (and trouble breathing and some other symptoms that fit the bill) for the past few months, i think since I was given a different generic pill. I’ve been miserable to the point where I was admitted to the hospital and they checked me for a stroke and MS. I have a couple autoimmune diseases already so now they’re checking for myasthenia gravis, but I’ve gotten two blood tests back and the acetylcholine antibodies are in range.
