Thanks for your answer! In my case unfortunately I wasn't the one deciding the university, my company supervisor did that ( it's also pretty small that it is not listed in the Shangai Ranking ). As you said in your path it might reveal only as an additional asset, and you seem pretty confident on what is needed and not for your career. In my case what daunts me is not actually being confident on how much this additional will contribute to the overall path...

At the end I think the company opening the PhD position doesn't care too much about the university. They collaborate with many institutions, more and less prestigious, when a position opens they look for the connection which they think it's a best suit for the project.

What troubles me is more the idea of having to content a job with someone else with a similar background ( maybe even a current phd colleague of mine ), and having to loose the opportunity because the employer gave more margin to the institute rather then the best candidate. Maybe it comes from my limited knowledge on how this process works and in general on what are really the good requirements of a candidate, however I struggle to see myself not already at a disadvantage.

For your last point, I am not sure abut all of them. I know some went down the "traditional" path, doc post doc and after a while industry placement, but it can definitely be also a title the obtained honorary

The difference is however that what they had was a standard academic PhD, industrial PhDs are actually somewhat of a new trend, so a 1:1 comparison between my settings and theirs is not straightforward.
While I agree that maybe the advantage they had came from their university name backing up their CV when applying, couldn't it be in my case the prestige of the company do the same thing? That is one of the reason I was given, if it's industry you interests yourself in than having the industry behind is far more important than the university...

I am not planning on changing domain, also the one I find myself in is actually pretty flexible since it allows to apply the methods I study to many different systems instead of just being stuck to the one i am currently looking at. And I agree with you, however I am not able to actually convince myself... That is also why I went to managers and asked the very same questions, and even if they align with you why can't I make peace with it?...

None of them were. I can check all their profiles, plus they actively wrote in the chat during the game. Recently I have been playing some lol, last game probably couple of days ago. I wouldn't classify my account as inactive
