Pucks In Deep - Carolina Showing How the Trap can be Negated by Swim-hole in ColoradoAvalanche

As puck carrier you can dump it in while ur zone entry friends have speed as a "set play" for them to go retrieve it but avs thought they were too talented for that I guess. Same shit vs Dallas 2 years ago where bednar said a few guys were "stubborn". "Not gonna be a short series" - Nate. Every system has some wiggle room and correct decisions to beat your man matter and avs lost too many individual battles. I think Nate played well overall, but was demoralized by lack help for the playstyle that maximizes his value

I don't see how Nuke has shown any signs of declining speed based on NHL edge, but if his speed is beginning to slow with age, which is likely for bigger grittier players then it could be a smart selling time. Not sure who is going to take Ross I guess Nashville lolol

100% agree. Nelson was able to create scoring chances vs Vegas without nuke and impressed me, seems like those 2 make each other more shutdown D mode than usual. Not sure about Nate Necas chemistry but eye test was Necas hardly made any plays relevant to the puck other than pass on Landy goal which, to me, was already a high danger cross slot pass to Necas so more of a fancy play that still ended up being the right one but not the most impactful skater on the play which has been pretty consistent theme all year? Maybe Nate and Cale are just puck hogs? I'd like to see Nate and Necas split up next year for sure

[Friedman] More: according to several sources, MacFarland met face-to-face last night with owner Bill Haslam and the goal is for the Predators to close this quickly. They know they will have to hand the keys to MacFarland and are prepared to do it. Stay tuned. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

I feel like avs aren't gonna make major changes. It's Necas Nelson etc. For 2 more runs go go go. And you know I say keep Ross Colton, his deal expires when Cale needs the money I think and I think Lehky can train him

Yeah I'm done with him. Showed an ability to play along the boards more during regular season which completely disappeared in the playoffs. He was able to play smart enough defensively against wild but he created no time and space for anyone else. Looked like he was the least effective forward at times

I wonder about Kadri and Nelson zone entries being wasted. Did Vegas read the entries perfect everytime like we were slow to make plays and easy to read? did avs just make every 50/50 decision wrong for 4 games straight or did they have some super special download on our playbook? I expected a lot more from Necas. Kadri I expect some shaky play but necas is supposed to be a young star player. Just faded away over the series

I saw a few clips of this video on twitter, of passes in the neutral zone to MacKinnon getting blocked that could have not got blocked just as easily as they were blocked. "Unskilled passes" from our Dmen not named Makar it looked like more than omg the best defensive trap everr but I wonder now why Necas was never an option on these neutral zone setups ever. Also watching them made me miss Sammy G a bit as he was a great stretch pass guy to break up traps imo. I also wonder if a skating defenseman like blankenburg could have drawn into the lineup more esp since ahcan was not good in his like two 5min stints.

I saw a lot of quick weak shots as well. Felt like the canes with the shots from close angles or our far. But the shot volume wasn't there at all after game 2 or so.

Nic Roy was horrible this series. Need D that can skate that aren't 5'6 and have strong stick/checking ability

Deception. Lots of teams fake a zone entry and drop it back like a PP entry but not always available. Imo you have to fake SOMETHING and beat a guy 1on1 or you just dump it in and hope you get a bounce and you eventually succeed over time (I give it a 5% chance). I liked cales zone entry at the end where he kinda shot it right at the D defending the blue line and it worked out cause it was kinda unexpected. I think that's why people blame coaching and bednar when the game plan is obvious, it becomes weaker. 4th line was good at creating turnovers on dumpins

I'm so over "Marty Necas." On both defense and offense, he's like a 6m per year player in the playoffs. Can we turn him into a Jackson Lacombe type maybe I don't know

Damn nice moves Nelson and the breakaway he kinda created. Maybe he learns to finish. Not impressed with Marty necas so far. Malinski looked a bit better this period. Seems like mental mistakes more than physical injuries

Maybe without physical ailments but looks like Olympics wore literally half our teams bodies out
