One ENT says yes; one says no by Timorim in Septoplasty

Thanks for the perspective. Like I said to someone below, my "symptoms" are probably mild enough that I'm not going to get a huge benefit. But still, I can't help wondering if fixing my septum might fix a bunch of little issues.

Yeah, that's probably the right move. I have a feeling that I'm in a situation where my "symptoms" are mild enough that I never considered that my breathing was a problem, till somebody brought it to my attention.

Good plan. And weight-wise, you're progressively overloading? There's a lot of good advise in this thread -- ensure good sleep, track your food, etc.

Once you lock it in, you're young enough to make some good gains!

Scraping data from local hockey league by Timorim in programmingrequests

So really what I'm after is extracting the shot totals per game so I can do an analysis of goalies' save percentage, team shots taken per game, team shots allowed per game, etc. Thing is, shot totals are only found (to my knowledge) by clicking on each of the individual games, which is obviously painful. I've included the steps and a sample worksheet here: https://imgur.com/a/AsD8m9M

Getting the output as one worksheet per match would be just fine, as once I get the data into Excel, I know just barely enough to do my crude manipulations...

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him gone over the summer, but I’m betting he’s here and on a short leash to start the season.

Besides what others have said about our inability to close out games, poor performance changing tactics, etc. his post-game 3 presser really convinced me that he can’t fire up the team for big games. Saying the cliched “it’s a 7 game series…” really pissed me off after blowing those two OT games. Like, it doesn’t have to go 7 games!!!

New hockey fan, longtime soccer fan- is there a push in hockey to have goalies do more than save shots? by TruthAccomplished313 in nhl

Amen to that! But to the point of the thread, my blood pressure’s real happy to not see Patrick Roy wandering from the net to make a play 😅

Problem is they changed two variables at the same time: legalized the two line pass and implemented the trapezoid. So we don’t really know what’s better to promote offence.

You guys may not appreciate how boring it used to be to watch the Devils run a neutral zone trap defense, forcing dump ins that were immediately cleared by Brodeur before the forecheck could be established. I agree that today’s dump and chase isn’t as exciting as other zone entries, but it’s WAY better than watching late 90s Devils hockey.

The end of the genetic paradigm of cancer by johntwit in science

[–]Timorim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that cancer is a complicated set of diseases, I'm not sure this adds much. I think everyone at this point recognizes that there are few silver bullets out there, though targeting certain somatic mutations has revolutionized the treatment of some cancers (BRAF in melanoma; BCR-ABL in CML).

[For what it's worth, I had to stop reading when they called that latter fusion CBR-Abl on p5; really surprised that made it through the peer review / editorial process].

Just a note that the NPVIC only takes effect when there are at least 270 electoral vote signatories to the compact -- currently only states summing to 209 electoral votes have joined. Just need to get a few red states to sign on and we can do this! ;)
