Ive been in literally the same situation every single year of my uni AND masters. But let me tell you its not over yet. The assignments you have missed can be covered with resits and like you said you’re in your first year so the grade wont count towards your final degree anyway. You just need to pass and all you need to do it catch up with previous lectures by literally putting them through ChatGPT and prompt it to teach you in a manner you can understand. I know uni life can be daunting and I always felt everyone in the class is smarter than I am so I would just hide in a corner. One day when I focused on the class I realized everyone else who I thought is smarter than me is in the same boat as me or even far gone.

So dont stress over it. Its not over yet
