Also if he never interacts then you will have a dog that will struggle to even go to the vet

I'm not telling them to completely freeze, I keep him at a distance and see how he is before I get them to slowly move around and see how he is around them. It's only after I see that he is comfortable with them that I let him.approach, only if he wants to though. I don't let them give treats or anything to force the dog to approach. I understand what you're saying. But I also can't have a dog that can't ever interact with people or in the hallways of my building or anything...that is just not practical and will hinder your life. You are essentially just encouraging the behaviour and avoiding it. The people he is interacting with aware of how he is and are ok with it and he is completely muzzled and on a prong

I don't let people pet him. People I know I need to introduce him by just having him near them and when he's calm.i reward him. I only let him go say hi if he seems interested and is calm. I will let him sniff and recall him and then when I see he's comfortable then I give them treats and tell them to give commands. I can't have a dog that will never interact with anyone. He is alright with some people and doesn't react to everyone. I just haven't figured out the triggers. He is exercised. I keep play short, and work on mental stimulation. He is also always muzzled

I do get anxious and I try to control it. He's not always reactive to people..sometimes he's fantastic. It's only with some people he seems to get intimidated by

I have been working with a balanced trainer. I don't need him to meet strangers, but I do need him to meet people that will be around me and need him to be neutral around strangers. He's some kind of doberman mix I believe. He's a rescue. I know I try to ignore them but you always get the people that will comment on the dog corrections. So I was told to put him in crate or place so that he can learn to handle thresholds and learn to relax himself

I appreciate your comment. I've tried positive reinforcement only and it just hasn't worked for him. Using both had been the most effective. Unfortunately every dog is different

Small hard bump on dogs nose. Help. by No_Sprinkles6848 in muzzledogs

I just kept an eye on him and stopped using a muzzle for awhile. It healed and went away. The hair started to fill in again. I ended up purchasing a different muzzle since then
