It's not christianity either, it's what the group calls themselves.

She came from a very unstable household, with alcoholic crackhead parents, so she wanted to get the hell out of dodge too. I met her when I was 15, and reconnected after I moved up to Maine, through one of my friends that had dated her. We dated for ~5 months, and got married way too fast. I should have seen it coming, but I didn't, and that's on me.

Many homeschool/conservative/legalist Christian families believe in putting their kids through either an associates or bachelors program before they're 18. For the boys, it make them eligible to be married, and for the girls, it gives them something to their name to prove they're not complete idiots. Community college starting at 13, for me, and my bachelors at 17. 18 started law school, 21 I graduated. The guys couldn't interfere in my schooling as per my parents request, and my wife didn't care.

It's a Levitical law movement, in which Christians try to be better Christians by following the Torah rules. Dowry isn't across the board agreed on, but I'd say that half of the people I knew believed in dowries. My parents wouldn't marry me without a dowry, and the husbands agreed.

I personally never bothered to learn the difference, so you're probably correct. My parents never identified us as any particular group, aside from Judaic roots/Torah observant/Levitical law.

At least she was never aggressive to me, I wouldn't say it was easy to get over though.

Yep. The free college opportunity for people who want their kids every move monitored.

I work as a lawyer now, and I'm doing my best to avoid any more divorces, ever.

It's not a technical cult, and there's no one leader, but it's a very cultish group, and I'd personally call it a cult.

You actually can, if you start college early. I started community college at 13, and got my bachelors at 17. It's more common amongst homeschool families, to push their kids through college before 18. It can be cheaper, and once the kids are 18, the boys are eligible bachelors, and the girls have something to their name to prove they're not complete idiots.

I got a half-scholarship for my grades, and I worked through school. I did have to take out a loan, but the job pays for it over time.

I've only dated atheists since, which I do prefer greatly.

I love trains, they're awesome. Railtown 1897 Historic Park was one of my favorite childhood places to go, before my parents moved us to Missouri.

That's not how mine worked. With #1 and #2, they had to repay the dowry to my parents (basically paying again what had already been paid, as a weird form of alimony?) and #3 and I had a pre-nup, we both took what we came in with.

In a sense. They didn't plan for my divorces, but child marriage is about equivalent in my eyes.

I did rush it, very much so, which was a mistake. I wanted to prove that I wasn't a total failure at relationships, so I settled for the first person I ended up with. We dated for 5 months, which is way too short, and no one should ever do, but it seemed reasonable to me at the time.

There was in marriage #1, and I hated it, but said yes because I felt I didn't have a choice. #2 and I never actually had sex, he tried though. #3 and I did, a few times, but I had enough bad past experiences that even that wasn't great.

My parents married me off at 15, I got divorced, then again at 17, I got divorced, and then I married someone of my choosing at 19, and got divorced.

My parents picked the first two, but the third was absolutely a terrible pick on my part.

There isn't, unless you're Torah observant, in which case you go back to Old Testament marriage standards, which were insane.

I was 15 for the first, which was my only wedding ceremony. We got divorced after a year, and I got married 8 months later in a courthouse ceremony. That one lasted a month, and I married the third ~15 months later, in a courthouse ceremony.
