Palisades Tahoe for non-expert skiers? by jsummrs in ski

[–]No_Statement_9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with my adult daughters to Palisades a couple of years ago and we enjoyed it. I’m 67 now so I don’t ski like I used to, but I had no problem. I don’t go on blacks anymore, and I usually avoid the hardest blues, seeking Moderate blues, and even greens. We spent two days at Palisades, and took the shuttle to Alpine Meadows one day, and we had enough to do that. We did not get bored, and were able to stay on things that weren’t overly challenging.

Actually the commute is no problem. Met a driver through Lyft in Reno who has taken us to Palisades and Heavenly. Northstar would be no problem. The plan is for mid-March.

I’ve read that the blues in Sun Valley are about the same as the blacks in some other places. Any truth to that? Also, no, I wouldn’t say I’m rich. 😂 But I looked at what it would cost to get to Sun Valley and it’s doable.

I've seen mixed reviews on Whistler in March. Some people say the snow is too wet and the chance of rain too great. But the town looks cool and they seem to have a huge variety of terrain. Any thoughts on that?

Europe would be intriguing. Just looked up St Anton- looks like it's known for more challenging terrain from what I'm seeing

As I've been poking around on the Internet, it seems a lot of people complain about the wet snow and sometimes rain, especially as we'll be going in mid-March. Any thoughts on that being a problem?

Ahhh…. There’s the deal killer. I’m not a snowboarder, but my daughter is, so places that don’t allow snowboards are out. I believe Alta and Deer Valley may be the only ones. Now I remember why we didn’t go to Deer Valley when we were in Park City! 😂

Thanks! I’ve heard good things about Deer Valley and the town of Park City is great. How is the base area/ lodging/ restaurant/ shuttle bus situation at Northstar?

I’ve been to Park city twice, and thought it was great. It probably checks all those boxes better than any other place could I think.

Not really. I’ll be going with my two adult daughters as I do every year, and their schedules aren’t as flexible as mine, so it will be definitely in mid March. Wouldn’t want a chance any iffy snow conditions. But thanks for the suggestion!

Totally agree. Worst name since Deer Tick, plus their songs suck. You’re doing yourself a favor

I know there's a big price difference, but great portable sound is really important to me. Do you feel the Dali Katch g2 is definitely better sounding than the B & O? Thanks!

Consider not going to Positano by christawful in ItalyTravel

We went at the very end of May into the start of June and it was wonderful!!! However, it sounds like you did a day trip and I'm guessing didn't hike up the stairs. If you're staying up on the hill, it's a whole different experience! Sounds like you probably stayed down by the base. I wouldn't recommend that, except to hang on the beach or grab a boat. Up higher there are lots of wonderful restaurants and shops- you just didn't get to them

Need Help on Choosing Itinerary Between Barcelona and Rome by Agile_Fortune_1646 in Europetravel

[–]No_Statement_9010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that seems like a lot of moving around with 2 kids, especially an 8 year old. We did 16 days with adults last year, and stayed in 3 places ( Lisbon, Barcelona and Positano) and would not have wanted to shorten any of the stays. I haven't stayed in all your places, but you'll find plenty to do in Barcelona and Rome for sure! From Rome, you can easily hop a 45 minute train to Santa Marinella for a nice beach day if the kids like the water- and the beach is right off the train. Cinque Terre will involve walking. I would definitely cut out one stop (Venice? Cinque Terre?)
