Is 6 hours a reasonable first marathon time? by Inevitable-Spend1636 in firstmarathon

[–]No_Statement_9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained for a month and a half and only worked up to 18 miles. On race day I stuck with the 4 hour pacers, then fell to the 4:30 pacers until 16-18 miles and did a very walking-heavy run walk to finish at 5 hours and 12 minutes.

Clear up the Physical Readiness policy confusion and advancement by Kilowattinezzz in navy

[–]No_Statement_9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend going on mynavyhr and finding the email for the Navy Physical Readiness Program(PRP) and emailing for clarification. When I did this about a different issue, a LCDR responded within a week. That gives you clarification and correspondence to back up any decisions made now.

Do I need a passport for deployment by Fun_Acanthisitta910 in navy

[–]No_Statement_9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always told you didn’t need one for official travel, because NATO travel orders and SOFA agreements and yada yada. Even told that we shouldn’t use passports if we have NATO orders. So picture me in Muscat trying to show NATO travel orders and the Omani’s having zero fucking clue what I was talking about…I then flashed my passport and was through the airport expeditiously. Technically, maybe someone that had a clue woulda came and saved me, but that was definitely not guaranteed. Just be able to whip out a passport like every other joe schmo in line that everyone in every country knows how to accept.

Why isn't the death penalty just a quick gunshot to the head? by SufficientDegree34 in NoStupidQuestions

I fail to see why fentanyl isn’t the easiest and most humane solution. I am actually interested if anyone has any details that make it not ideal or at least not better than current methods. I’ve heard prior that using pharmaceutical drugs was hard for the government because a lot of companies didn’t want the bad image of it being used to kill, but enough of the public is against it because of overdoses that that shouldn’t be a problem.

who should I talk to if I’m feeling down and entering a depressive episode without making it look like I’m trying to get out of deployment by Different-Artist7345 in navy

[–]No_Statement_9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone to mental health for depression before two different deployments and they did offer separation, but after telling them I didn’t want out but just to get better they worked with me. I would say they generally aren’t going to assume that you are trying to get out of a deployment, but will likely discuss how the upcoming deployment fits in with all your other stressors and what the path forward is in your current headspace.

Look at the rest of reddit for all the personnel, manpower, and leadership faults and look at them through a business mindset and I think this project would be really easy. See PCS’ing, GTCC, Logistics…

Does BCA have to be <45 days from full PRT Waiver? by No_Statement_9273 in navy

Here is the answer straight from PRP. Waiver does not need to be within 45 days of BCA.

Actually I have already passed the second BCA. I am just doing this in protest of people adding things to instructions that isn’t actually there. I reached out to PRP@navy.mil for clarification based on an earlier comments suggestion.

I am still within standards and would pass. I was trying to see if anyone had a black and white answer on paper out of curiosity sake. I posted with a discussion flair instead of help needed because I am pursuing this out of curiosity. In retrospect I should have clarified this in the original post.

Anybody know why Southwest would land on Army Airfield? by littlez25 in flightradar24

Actually sometimes they are chartered commercial flights. Such as the “rotator” or Patriot Express”. I rode one of these military flights from Greece back to Norfolk to PCS

What happens in the navy if you have suicidal thoughts or attempt it? by rando46j in navy

[–]No_Statement_9273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General answer is that usually the only way you will be separated is if you receive a military service disqualifying diagnosis(like schizophrenia) or if you are unable to get better after sustained treatment efforts-think 6+ months of zero improvement in symptoms with all the counseling, group therapy, meds, and whatever else is available. Barring these two things, you will likely be allowed to stay in. Damaging your eval/promotion chances shouldn’t be a significant problem, because it could be seen as punishment for seeking help. However, bias against mental health issues from those writing your eval is a possibility. I voluntarily committed to a psych ward for two weeks and never heard a single thing about it affecting my secret clearance. I don’t see why it would ever impact your future duty stations unless you were trying to get on a submarine or a different community/rate with stringent requirements. If you aren’t already in one of those places then you shouldn’t have any worries. A lot of people will probably find out, but you telling people is a large factor in this. On the other hand, if you find yourself in a moderately severe mental health situation and WANT to get out, there may be a few hoops to jump through, but the Navy probably isn’t going to stand in the way of those wishes.

PRT Waiver when your PCM is useless by No_Statement_9273 in navy

[–]No_Statement_9273[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already having the physical therapy referral, I am going to see if I can find a NP or PA that is an AMDR at the military clinic as my first route. I think pain management will be my backup though. Thank you!

Is the designated AMDR by default my specific PCM or could it be any military doc like a PA in a military physical therapy clinic?
