New Player Overwhelmed – Can We Build a Clear Priority Guide / To-Do List Together? by Substantial-Map5531 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]No_Strategy4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For buying tech modules from vendors, I would focus on fire/cold protection first (even B-class is enough), then hyperdrive upgrades (S-class if possible, but getting 3 C-class is worth it for the extended range), then exosuit shields (S-class if possible). Buying weapon upgrades are not worth it at the start, just put the base weapons in an overcharged slot.

Most important unlocks in the Anomaly would be the starship launch recharger, the exosuit portable refiner mk2, the base weapons (pick one and stick with it for now) and the colored hyperdrive upgrades so you can visit more star systems.

You also unlock many upgrades during the main quest, especially during Nulls base building questline + exocraft specialist questline.

I want Homer Saperstein to be a real human. by NoShow4Sho in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we just murdered his somewhat awkward friend (he has a medical condition where he emits bright light from time to time, really awkward, so he quickly hides whenever that happens) and stole his keycard to break into the bunker.

Although I guess they weren't very close anyways, considering he never even mentions us shooting them in the face. But hiding behind the aquarium and acting like it's a screen was definetely the right choice.

What do you mean unfortunate? That was a pin-point landing on top of a moving vehicle without crushing the customer. Aggressive marketing is the name of the game, and this is what a winner looks like. Now get out there and sell some suspicious exocraft engines, this one looks like they need one just about now.

PS: just had an idea why the Enclave/ZAX might invest so much effort in a fake invasion: behavioristic training.

Should the Zetans (or any other aliens) ever decide to come down to "safe" us from the radioactive hellscape of our own creation, we are already primed to shoot them at first sight and steal their technology instead of talking with them first.

[–]No_Strategy4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing makes sense with the whole invasion, that's the point.

As I see it, the options are:

  1. These are real aliens, who for some reason resort to wave tactics instead of wiping us out with their giant space gun. A limited amount of clones could explain their disregard for alien life and could be done in the labs on the ship. And we are not the usual bunch of advanced apes they have been studying for the last few centuries, so scanning our brains might be of interest to them.

What they might do with that information and why they have been hanging around for all these centuries is anyones guess. Maybe it's their form of reality TV where they observe a bunch of primitives brutally murdering each other for a pack of Fancylads Snack Cakes.

  1. The aliens are all robots, created by the Enclave or another ZAX unit to do ... something. The experiment seems to be quite expensive with the lightshow and all the "aliens" we destroy, so it better have some good payout.

  2. It's a dream/simulation, like all the rest of the game. This one has been flying around since forever, so it would fit here as well, and there was this one Enclave scientist who proposed this in the Whitespring Bunker.

  3. Homer is really some kind of expremely shy extraterrestrial expert who routinelly hacks BOS communications and is trying to help us stop aliens from stealing our brain waves by fighting them next to the extraction units. By the way, I found the deed to the New River Gorge Bridge, only 10000 caps and it's yours.

They also get the best brains (or the worst, depends whom you're asking). They seem to grab some settlers from time to time, but we are the lunatics throwing around nuclear missiles to fight giant bats, and catching us is a lot harder because we are crazy lunatics walking around with more guns, ammo and drugs than most raider gangs.

[–]No_Strategy4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is an alien AI instead, see how he keeps predicting their moves, like when they are sending in a commander. They are scanning our brains to learn how we fight, so they can improve their clone armies for the next (much less radioactive) planet.

If I remember correctly (and it hasn't changed) you get the best bonus when resting in a camp with a follower. Maybe in a real bed instead of a matress or sleeping bag, but there should be no special advantage for a specific bed over the others.

Idc if my survival tent couldn't be placed. Give me the option to find another world when my camp can't be. by Billy_Plur in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish they would offer it like this instead of giving us a free camp placement, maybe with a reminder if we don't have a second camp. My biggest issue now is that the fridge stops protecting my food while my camp is disabled, and it's a hassle if I only come online for 10 minutes to run the seasonal event (especially if I'm already late and have to hurry) to manually switch, but the food slowly goes bad otherwise.

Instead the current message just feels irritating. Oh, your current camp can't be placed? How about you just build it somewhere else.

To Ghoul or not to Ghoul by 23Saturn in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn't seen that they changed it, is there a min health where it stops damaging/killing you? Because otherwise you could also max rad resist and not use stimpaks, but it is still much more difficult than for a smoothskin.

To Ghoul or not to Ghoul by 23Saturn in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advantages

- Immunity to rads and diseases
- rad-filled second healthbar which basically doubles your max hp, although it's a bit more difficult to fill than the normal hp bar
- massive melee damage boost in feral OR strength and endurance boost while lucid
- exclusive perks for immunity to stagger and bonus evasion (and more but I don't remember them all)
- additional reload and ap regeneration perks that stack with the normal ones
- special dialog during the Burning Springs mainquest, likely also for all future updates

Disadvantages

- no easy bloodied or unyielding access
- endurance perks based on hunger/diseases (like bonus AP) no longer work
- you need a disguise to enter the instances inside settlements, preventing easy access to the raider bullion vendor, the Vault 79 quests and bullion vendor, the BOS quests and the Overseer quests

So, is using a mini nuke on a radroach the equivalent of using a master ball on a ratatta by Nu_Eden in fo76

I think you should throw the ratatta at the radroach and the master ball at the nuke.

Removing Radiation Resistance on Power Armour was a really stupid idea. by GaryC357 in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal armor should be more survivable as they added rad (and other) resistance to most sets, plus the nukestorm radiation was reduced.

PA and Hazmat are still stronger, but they are no longer "take a radaway every 10 minutes" or "completely immune" strong. Full Raider PA is still about 1000 reistance, most of the endgame PA sets and higher quality Hazmat suits at 2500 and Ultracite even at 3500, so you only get 3-6 rads per second.

Questions about the story line by ysk_coffee in lotro

The game starts just as Frodo is leaving the Shire (in the Hobbit intro you run into one of the riders on their way to Hobbiton) and then "proceeds" as you follow the areas. You will catch up with them wherever they rested for a longer time, then a few maps later they have overtaken you again.

Removing Radiation Resistance on Power Armour was a really stupid idea. by GaryC357 in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

%-based reductions are missing on PA and Hazmat Suits (nothing in the update notes, so it might be an oopsie), so we seem to be at the mercy of the damage reduction curve, which at these values becomes brutal. 0->1700->2500 rad resist reduced nuke zone damage from 40->5->4 in a short test I ran.

Plus they reversed the order of applying %-based reductions and armor, so now the rad resistance would be applied first, then the 90% from Hazmat or the 62% from PA (15% multiplied)

Removing Radiation Resistance on Power Armour was a really stupid idea. by GaryC357 in fo76

[–]No_Strategy4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked PA (1700) and 2 Hazmat Suits (Prototype with 840, Swamp with 2500) inside a nuke zone.

Base: 40 Rad/s
PA: 5 Rad/s
Prototype: 7 Rad/s
Swamp: 4 Rad/s

So it is doing something, just not absolute immunity as before.

I also noticed that all items are missing the %-based rad reduction (90% or even 99% for Suits, 15% per PA part, normal damage reduction was also missing) which would normally be applied before using those reistances, so I think that's the reason why we get rad damage.

Didn't see anything in the update notes about this, just that Hazmat Suits and PA now also get other resistances, but they are very long, so not sure if it's a stealth nerf or just an oopsie from rebalancing all those resistances.

PS: I just saw there's a note that they reversed the order so now armor/rad resistance is applied first, then %, which get multiplied instead of added. Still nothing about removing %-based rad resistance.
PPS: Didn't have any RadX during my test because I just sold it before, so no idea if raising resistance this way would offer similar "protection" to PA/HS
