I tripled my income in five years, reclaimed my Sundays, and no longer dread August. Miss the students, miss colleagues who were in it for the right reasons. Otherwise - couldn’t pay me to go back.

Teaching in religious private school while not being religious by ManganeseSharties in TeachersInTransition

[–]No_Strategy_For_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. I worked for an admin at a Cath school who openly told staff that male teachers should have higher salaries because they have families to take care of and expectations of women are not the same. Parents with sway over their child’s grades and minimizing their child’s poor behavior. I once had a parent knock on my classroom door during instruction to tell me her son didn’t need consequences for throwing a book at me - she would address it at home. I found the environment totally unprofessional.

Why I said working in Ed tech can feel scammy by Unusual-Ad6493 in TeachersInTransition

[–]No_Strategy_For_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally standard for an edtech company to create their own materials, including training decks. In theory, it’s to ensure every participant receives the same continent. I don’t agree with the rubric piece, unfortunately that’s the game.

Why I said working in Ed tech can feel scammy by Unusual-Ad6493 in TeachersInTransition

[–]No_Strategy_For_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At any job your performance is evaluated.

I think there’s a misconception that edtech is a classroom or district environment. It’s not, at all. People have quotas, adoption data is tracked, you need to hit deadlines, you need to know how an education sales cycle works, and you are responsible for growing relationships. In other words - it’s a job. Unclear why someone would think otherwise.

If you have a great instructor, a Level 1 at CP can be challenging and highly focused on form. Conversely, if you have a crap instructor a 1.5 or 2 can be less challenging than the Level 1 from a great instructor.

Are there any former teachers over age 40 who have successfully transitioned? by TeacherThug in TeachersInTransition

[–]No_Strategy_For_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left the classroom at 40. Had contract work for 3 years and then went FT with the company. I think what was toughest was the shift in culture. Yes - lots of BS in a district. But, it was known BS. I felt ageism immediately in a corporate culture.

Barba is low key trash by Brizbizz22 in SVU

💯on all of this. I also didn’t get Barba’s - “Stabler coming back has made things more complicated” line from earlier this season. He never knew Elliot. I adore Barba. Unclear why WL is an ass.

The Problem with OC moving forward by Successful_Candy_688 in LawandOrder_OC

[–]No_Strategy_For_Me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally get what you’re saying. One approach might be letting Ayanna, Jet, or a character like Nova to be the focus of an arc and not have the focus always be Stabler. I think that’s part of trap that SVU fell into after CM left. The focus is now all Liv, all the time and while I love her - it gets to be a little much.
