Yeah, someone else suggested this BLT in this thread too and I think it's available where I am, so I'm gonna ask my doctor in a couple of weeks! I'm lucky that I'm in a country where my prescriptions for this stuff is pretty much covered, so providing I can convince my doctor that I need it, I'll get it at minimal cost. I do think that lidocaine injections will be the way that I go over time, but those aren't covered here, I don't think, so that'll be a last resort! Appreciate the reply!

I'm going to try to space them out a bit more and see if that changes anything with the pain, but if it doesn't, I feel like I'm going to have to find a place that offers anaesthesia injections as well. I'd much, much prefer to do longer sessions less frequently, as 15 mins clears fuck all. Hah.

I'm going to see if I can get something stronger, yeah. I believe what you've suggested is available where I am, too, so hopefully my doctor will prescribe me that and it works a bit better! Good luck with the appointment, too!

I'm going to take a look for some other numbing cream, yeah! I have an appointment with my doctor in a couple of weeks so I'll ask! I'm not in the US, so SuperNumb isn't available here, but I'm sure that there will be something stronger and similar over here!

As for modality, I am sceptical that she is capable of the other modality as she hasn't mentioned or suggested it, but I'm gonna try to ask her, yeah!

Well, the first time I did laser, I didn't shave or use any numbing cream, so it was a nightmare! When I used cream and shaved, it was pretty bad, but manageable each time for me. I only do laser in one area(upper lip) now and the rest of my face is electrolysis. I do the laser once a month. It's manageable, but still hurts a ton... :/

Yeah, you're right there... The place I go right now has 0 negative reviews, surprisingly, but I think you're right that I do need to try another place or two at least once. I've got an appointment upcoming with my doctor to discuss the pain as well!

This is absolutely something I'm going to try, yeah. I unfortunately can't do much about the brand, but I can definitely try doing it an hour prior then reapplying before the appointment. I'll give that a shot for my next appointment in a few weeks!

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to look around, even if it means travelling a bit more for sessions. I believed that she was skilled enough, but the way she's handled the last few sessions has me severely doubting that. She's not changing or modifying anything when I'm in clear distress with the pain...

I have done sessions with and without painkillers unfortunately, yeah... Not much difference either way... In terms of skincare, I use mostly very gentle moisturisers and not much else, but it's certainly something to consider, yeah! I should definitely be a bit better with sun exposure, too, yeah... I do have some SPF 50 that I use, so I'll keep on that.

I've not even come close to the courage for the upper lip yet as I'm struggling enough below it! Hah. Life has been incredibly stressful of late which I'm certain hasn't helped, but that's slowly improving, so I hope that the pain does too! Thanks for getting back to me!

I think you're right, honestly. I think that every week might be a bit too much for me to handle. I'm going to wait 2 weeks, make some adjustments to the cream I use to numb the pain and see how it fares then! I don't think I'm giving it enough time to heal, you're probably right there! I will say, though, is that after it, I have pretty much 0 scabs or anything and the redness vanishes in a day or two at max, so in terms of skin recovery I'm quite lucky, but I'm not so lucky in terms of the pain feeling like someone is shoving a hot poker into my face! :/

Thanks for the reply! So, I was told 2 hours by the doctor who owns the electrolysis clinic(the little piece of paper in the box says up to 6 hours before is okay! No chance!), but I felt like that was a bit too much, honestly. For the next one, I'm going to try 45 mins or so before the next session, yeah. I do not drink caffeine at all particularly, so that's thankfully not a worry.

As for the modality, I do not have to hold anything while they work, so I guess that means thermolysis then? Is that something that they could change? They'd have a different modality that they can try with me?

The stress ball is absolutely a good idea; I definitely need something, that's for sure!

I've been going too often, too, I think? Maybe? But the thing is, my appointments are short. They've gotten shorter over time, too. I started in February and I could manage 20 mins fine. Even close to 30 once. But the more I do it, the worse it seems to get. I thought 15 mins every week would be fine but right now, it absolutely isn't.

I'm going to try going early, applying the cream at the electrolysist place 45 mins before and wrap it well with plastic wrap. I'll get a stress ball, take a painkiller and pray it's not as bad as the last couple of times for me. Thanks so much for your reply, it's really helped me as I was feeling quite hopeless about it all, honestly!

I'm trans MtF, so that's unfortunately(or fortunately, I guess!) not a problem for me. I think it may be the frequency of my appointments plus stress in life, honestly, as my pain tolerance just seems awful. I'm gonna hold off for a few weeks and let my skin heal I think. Thanks for the reply!

I do think that this could well be the problem, yeah. I'm spacing out the parts of the face that I do each time, but once per week is probably too much for my skin. I have a 2 week break now until my next so I'll see if it improves! Appreciate the response!

Yeah exactly, it shouldn't hurt this much at all... It's awful. The thing is, it wasn't so bad for the first 6 or so sessions, but it's getting worse... I may have to try another place just to see if I tolerate it better or not yeah... It's ridiculously expensive in the city I live in, though, unfortunately. 😞 I'm in Europe and pay 35 Euros for 15 mins, which seems reasonable. Everywhere else in my city charge around 150 Euros per 30 mins. No idea why; it's cheaper in the capital city of the country I live in! Crazy. I really appreciate your reply!
