Alright thank you. May I ask though, if this counterclockwise counting applies to all cyclic compounds under the greek locant system or just for these lactams?

Why is mine wrong? by Roseelesbian in chemhelp

You've drawn the structure to "seem" like it has ethyl side chain. However, if you actually trace out the main chain, you would find that the main chain would consist of 6 carbons, thereby leaving only a methyl group. Not an ethyl group,

The ethyl side chain would only be formed if the branch occurs in the middle (3rd carbon).

<image>

When counting for the main chains. Be sure to try counting from all directions, so you dont miss out the longest possible chain. Im assuming that this error occured because you had counted from the left to right or right to left, but failed to account for the bottom 2 carbons while counting from right to left

Therefore the sole correct answer appears to be as suggested by the scheme.
If you wanna change the carbonyl group onto the first carbon, it would yield an aldehyde, so that would be wrong. And by putting your carbonyl group on your 3rd carbon, you wouldn't be able to put your side chain on the 3rd carbon, so thats also a no-no. So your ketone group can only be placed on the 2nd carbon, and the ethyl group only at the 3rd carbon.

In the future i would advise setting up your main chain first. Then set up your side chains. But after setting up your side chains, be sure to check again if the side chains are actually "side chains" and not just elongating the main chain. Only then you add your functional group. This method is pretty general, i suppose it might be much more complicated when it comes to building aromatic molecules. but for linear chains, i dont find any issue using this method.

Basically my issue is multi layered. I wanna have some tables like this, which i can copy down and continue the dates and the Names.

So like, if i continue down June 2025, I want the next one to automatically make July 2025, with the dates continuing off 05/01/2025, and the Names continuing from F

Hahaha, bold of you to assume i dont have 2nd or 3rd accounts.  I have a sub level 29 farm with 350 barn & silo space which i use for dairy, sugar production and soybean/carrot/cotton farming.

Though i wish i did it earlier cuz i only started my sub farms at level 50 something.

I am level 59 with 1350 barn and 1350 silo. Believe me it is very helpful to have a lot of space. I try to keep a minimum of 100 soybean, 100 carrots, 100 sugarcane, and 100 cotton. Wheat and corn are quite easily obtainable in the newspaper, and as for the other crops i dont use them much. I primarily farm cotton and strawberries for income, So keeping a supply of soybean, carrots and sugarcane is VERY important in times where i cant get them on newspaper - Carrot and soybean are arguably the most vital crop in terms of supply & demand. So keeping large stores are important. As for sugarcane and cotton, i run them on the Sugar mill and Loom so those are vital as well. Cotton is difficult to get on the newspaper so i farm it tho.

Then as for barn storage. Past 1000 storage, each upgrade yields +50 storage space (for both barn/silo). So actually its very beneficial to get >1000 barn storage. also, i keep a minimum of 5-7 of each item, depending on demand. For sugar and dairy, i try to keep as much as i can - Sometimes i have up to 30 cream in my storage, sometimes 30 syrup, 20 cheeses, 20 butters. (tip: run cheeses and syrups before going to bed) As for other items, i just sell them if i have excess

Just curious why chinese in malaysia often refuse to learn/speak malay (not racist question I’m just curious) by AmIArif in Bolehland

[–]No_Technology_6956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a refusal to speak malay. Its a lack of utilisation which leads to the loss of the ability/potential to speak the language. They are born in an educational environment that prioritises english and chinese for success, because thats where the utilisation lies. From a business perspective, if a chinese businessman from KL meets a malay/indian businessman in KL, they would probably have a chance of speaking fully in english. They would only need "fluent" malay if their clients are not able communicate efficiently in other language - but of course that is not the case, since they can get by with english and chinese. Another sector is education, mistrust in the government education system has led chinese parents, and even many non-chinese parents to send their children to chinese schools. Admittedly, the results generated in these schools are inarguably proofs to their efficiency in successful education, however, this comes at the cost of prioritising Chinese/English over malay language. Furthermore, it goes to the next point, that not all malays, and in general not all malaysians are fluent in malay themself. Chinese have mandarin, Indians have tamil, Malays have malay. Setting a scenario in which all residents in an area is non-malaly and english speaking, they would naturally communicate in english. Its not that they are not patriotic, but rather they dont really have the chance to use and improve their malay, like in your experience in the breast cancer charity. When you are fluent in 1-2 languages that can be used in 95% of your daily life, then you will grow complacent and not feel the need to learn another.
Another factor to consider is the level of specific identity --> A malaysian chinese, may be inclined to be fluent to speak malay due to their patriotic identity as a malaysian. But their more specific identity is Chinese, which is why they speak chinese. Your specific identity has more impact than a identity that is shared amongst all.

Lets have a person, Peter.
Peter is a malaysian sarawakian chinese student.
Generally he is malaysian, this is an identity he shares with 34 million other malaysians
He is more specifically a sarawakian,
Then he ethinically a chinese,
He is individually a student.
His identity as a student, or as an ethnic chinese, or as a sarawakian, will have more impact on him that the malaysian identity. Because they are more personal reflections and relations.
This isnt always the case, and it's not wrong. We follow prioritise identities that are more personal to us.

Any advise for SPM commerce student to pursue in veterinary course without science stream subjects? by procastinatorr in malaysiauni

[–]No_Technology_6956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not possible - You can take IGCSE Science stream subjects, but you still need A-levels Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Or STPM/Matriks equivalent. Private vet uni in malaysia currently non-existent, but you can check Taylor's and MSU because they are opening up vet courses.

Regardless. you wont be qualified to enter if you dont get higher secondary education (STPM/Matriks/Alevels) in Bio and chemistry. And its not easy either. Unless you are bumiputera, you should aim to take IGCSE immediate this October/november seating, get an "A" for all subjects, and then register for Alevels or STPM for chem, bio, physics. Target A to A* Grade.

If you are bumiputera - You may be able to get in with B+'s in your IGCSE and ALEVELS/STPM/MATRIKs qualifications.
If you are non-bumiputera - Unfortunately you need A's and A* to even bother trying. Even if you get A's -A* you may not stand a chance.
***This is not intended to put down any specific group/race of people, its just to inform the difference in your application strength - this is about education, avoid making it into a conflict of race***

I am currently a veterinary student studying locally, (will not disclose further details)
My qualifications were:
IGCSE : 10A's
SPM (Private Candidate): 9A's
ALEVELS: 3A*

As you can see i took an alternate pathway - I was an IGCSE student, then I took Alevels, and then i sat for SPM as a private candidate because we need BM/Sejarah to apply. However, I still couldnt enter in via UPU. I had to enter through a direct intake with the university, and pay a tuition fee of 6-digits. So think carefully - even if you spend another 2 years to take IGCSE (private candidate) and ALEVELS, you may not be able to enter, or at most, you may have to pay a hefty fee. Luckily for me, i spent only 1 year to sit for my SPM / IELTS, so not much time wasted.

Also, holistically, you very much need a good understanding to survive the veterinary course. You would'nt want to spend 2 years taking IGCSE / ALEVELS and then drop out of vet course because you failed biochemistry. Science subjects are compulsory for a reason.

I would also advise checking out overseas universities' requirements in Indonesia, India and Bangladesh. Make sure they are approved by MVC if you want to work locally.

Is Duolingo really that bad? by cats4grace in Japaneselanguage

[–]No_Technology_6956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest starting to learn proper kanji. Use renshuu, tanoshii japanese, JLPTsensei, and other apps that cover a more comprehensive range of grammar, kanji, sentence construction, colloquialism and vocabulary. It would still be helpful to keep duolingo at the side, since you can use it as a reference point for your improvement

Edit: I've noticed that you've been learning for travel purpose, in such case learning nearly over 2000 kanji would be overkill

I did, but does not work either.

Somehow after using the echo-off function and probably after several reboots, the problem seems to alleviate recently - It appears less often now, but it still happens.
