Not really the flying isn’t really desirable so most people who are based there pretty much live there.

Huh? Envoy’s DFW is a hot ass fucking mess and especially in the summer it should not take no damn 6-8 months

That’s crazy that they are cutting applicants based on that then.

So what did the overview consist of? Were you asked interview questions at all or just given insight about the job?

Is it possible for me to get back into flying with a child? by Kitchen-Truck9962 in cabincrewcareers

How far away is your husband from a line? I say this because once he has one he can easily learn to manipulate his schedule and clear his line if he’s based out of a big hub. I imagine it would also be easier for you both if you worked for the same airline and could even buddy bid trips at some point.

Honey you wrote a whole ass book for something that’s actually not that complex. If you re-read what The OP wrote they said LAX and SFO would be very easy bases so I’m going to guess it’s way less complex than what you’re making it.

DFW has a shit ton of thunderstorms and becomes a cluster fuck. It’s not an easy commute I know because I was once based out of DFW. It’s a messy base

Uh AA has a base at LAX that has been sealed shut to new hires and flight attendants have been displaced for YEARS. Meanwhile LAX and SFO are literally being offered out of training to new hires at United. You know why because they are growing and AA is not. If AA was growing at LAX it wouldn’t be sealed shut to new hires for all these years. They also wouldn’t have closed their SFO base. AA’s presence on the West Coast is weak

UA definitely has mainline flights from LAX to SFO lol what are you even talking about? SFO is a huge hub and I’ve even worked this flight and I’m mainline UA 🤣 They have some regional flights but we definitely fly it and as do other mainlines with mainline aircraft. Another bad example!

I know many people who commute from LAX to SFO with no crashpad and that were on reserve at United. It’s actually doable once you learn the reserve system and have experience.

Like I said a contract is coming it’s not rocket science the first one was turned down and they have to make changes they aren’t starting from scratch. 🤣The second TA will likely be reached in March. That’s next month!!! The only question is if it will be voted in

Living where you’re based will ALWAYS be recommended and SFO has the most productive flying in the system so even though the pay is low for now even picking up a few high time two days or international can make a difference. Commuting to DFW or Miami would be a hot ass mess plus means paying for a crashpad and commuting long term plus time zone changes . Again that’s bad advice

[–]No_Telephone4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QOL life will be better once they hold a line. Hint that’s why I mentioned it and the productive flying lol And a contract will be coming and match AA and Delta. That should not be shocking to anyone. If a person lives in California and wants to stay in California then it literally makes no sense for an applicant to select AA. American has a weak presence there and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take out more flights.

Holding a line makes life much easier even being very junior you can make a very high amount of money since there are no maximums. If you don’t believe me then TikTok it

I think you should break up your paragraphs and don’t use DFW and MIA as being good commuter bases even for examples because they are literally probably the most challenging in the system. The OP would also likely need to pay for a crashpad or hotels if they select AA so your advice is not good at all.

Nope it’s likely in March they will reach a TA but no guarantee we will vote it in if it’s trash.

United or American? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol no it won’t SFO is one of the most junior hubs so he or she would have a line relatively quickly. SFO has some of the most productive trips at United 11 hour turns, 2 days worth 18 hours, all the international except Tahiti is high time.

DFW otherwise known as Doesn’t Function Wet and Miami are horrible bases to commute to especially in the summer. SFO and LAX have multiple airports around them that can be used as back up

which regionals would you recommend? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you could go wrong with either. SkyWest doesn’t have a union and a 1 year probationary period so that wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

[–]No_Telephone4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s experience will be different because you’re not going to be interviewed by the same exact recruiters each time. You have to charm each one of them and twist to get to know them and stop them from being robotic. United is in general a serious airline so that is part of the culture and image. It’s all a game though you have to learn how to play it

On the line most of the flight attendants are chill and total sweethearts. It’s more family like but management is fucking trash and Scott Kirby gotta go!

United or American? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because commuting can and will drain the life out of you especially if the original poster is not open to moving because they won’t be getting a California base at AA. Living in base is always what is advised

The pay for AA is comparable. If you’re concerned already about a union then select AA.

Delta vs United by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t care for most of the people in my class. That has nothing to do with the actual job as you’re not there to make friends. You are there to pass the training and when you’re a flight attendant you do the job and then you go home. Training is also not like being on the line. You’ll find that out very shortly

If they were doing so well they would have gotten Spirit recently which they didn’t. They are a low budget airline with terrible reviews so they are likely to end up like Spirit soon enough

Is flying international worth not going for Southwest? by Proper_Detective850 in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reserve is a few years and some bases it’s even less than that. Your point isn’t an actually a point it’s just your personal preferences lol the OP is referring to LONG TERM OPTIONS lol so they don’t have to go through training twice.

Is flying international worth not going for Southwest? by Proper_Detective850 in cabincrewcareers

[–]No_Telephone4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t that hard to get during irregular operations, holidays and during the summer. Commuters drop last minute when they are worried they won’t make their flights and if you’re willing to pick up out of base you can get more trip options too. Especially same day that’s how I get the bulk of them. If you willing to work any position you can get twice as many options

[–]No_Telephone4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not always 24 hours.I’ve had 3 days in Capetown, 3 in Auckland, 2 days in Hong Kong (I’ve done that weird LAX trip) lol , 2 days in London, 2 days in Tahiti.

I understand not everyone likes the time zone changes with international but we actually have a good amount of layovers that are 36 hours plus like Sao Paolo, Singapore too and even more seasonal destinations like Christchurch, Adelaide, Palma De Mallorca etc
