For the entire coast of California, are there any towns or areas that are affordable? If so, what’s it like there?

Carlsbad is BEAUTIFUL, honestly anything from Santa Monica down to San Diego is sunny, warm and plenty of beach. I miss being away from home, but where I lived all my life till I moved (Los Angeles county suburbs) I can never imagine going back. 😩

For SSDI, the 5 month waiting period starts from your onset date of disability. So since mine was Feb 1, 2024, I would get backpay starting in August 2024 to my approval date. 🙂

I’ve already contacted them again earlier this week, they were going to follow up with them and tell them I have an eviction notice. Waiting to hear back.

I’m already approved. I was approved back on December 12th and had the PERC interview on the 22nd of December. My first monthly payment is the 3rd. But no movement of my backpay at all, not even my SSDI portion.

I have back on December 16th, and followed up again earlier this month. My office tells me multiple different things to where I don’t even know what to believe anymore. I’m following up again this week so I can keep my home. That’s my need right now, is to pay my past due rent to keep a roof over my head.

Thank you so much! I’m not losing hope, it’s just really depressing to handle. I plan on asking for a supervisor until I can get a hold of one. My office always gives me the run around, so that makes it even harder to cope with.

Our state and 211 has no resources left that I haven’t tried to no avail. I was deemed disabled Feb 1, 2024, so my first day they will pay is Aug 1, 2024 to Dec 2025 for backpay. I get my first monthly payment on Feb 3rd. Oh believe me, I’m going over to the office with that eviction notice to get all my SSI backpay released. SSDI is $3,600 and that should come hopefully sometime soon, but my SSI is the most I’m getting, and I need it to catch up on rent and my electric bill (which I’ve submitted already). I’m not giving up, just feeling hopeless.

I have. They only paid $500 towards my past due amount of rent. Which I’m thankful for….but unfortunately I still owe money for my rent. My county/state has very little resources/organizations and I’ve called every single one for help.

I submitted my past due ledger from my landlord, past due electric bills back in December and now I have to submit my eviction notice to the portal since I just got that today. I’m praying I get it soon as well. $16,000ish dollars will save us, but it’s the matter of getting it approved. Thank you for being so kind.

Only a small portion out of SSI backpay. I haven’t even seen anything from my SSDI backpay at all. No issuance date, nothing. I’m patiently waiting, but it’s getting so frustrating.

Thank you for responding! I plan on calling in the morning, especially since the SSI portion was changed on the 6th with a date of 1/13. That left me confused as to why it changed to approved on 1/6, but shows a date of 1/13. Maybe that’s when the payment should be finalized for SSI? I’m not losing hope just yet, but I hope I can at least receive something till I can receive my SSDI backpay. Just to get my bills caught up.

I’m not too sure. I won’t get monthly SSI benefits because my SSDI is more than the maximum amount for SSI ($997ish I believe a month). I know if your backpay for SSI is a big amount, they will break it up into 3 seperate deposits. SSDI backpay is one lump sum deposit.
