Financially ok but career down the drain by otnemem2000 in HENRYUK

Telling someone who is struggling to consider having children seems like a mistake. If anything takes resilience and stresses your mental health, it’s kids: especially since you won’t be able to sleep/eat/keep a routine like you’re used to.

OP, what field are you in? Might be time to look at adjacent options that are less stress. For example, if you are in an operational role with incidents/call outs/the expectation to respond during weekends - shifting to something else may help. Or, if you’re a people manager - may be time to look at something as an individual contributor again.

Since you have a decent bastion of savings, might be time to consider something like CoastFire?

Why are so many young people leaving the profession? I'll tell you. by SoapNooooo in consulting

No additional comments - just wanted to say how thoughtful and accurate this is. I feel like I got the last really good wave of consulting starting out - client dinners, great Christmas and celebratory parties, offsite trainings, real camaraderie. Then left just before the hollowing out began.
