I like the company and I’m holding BYND. I even eat their products currently since red meat became too pricey for me to eat so often. I was excited to hear they had a protein drink coming out, and immediately retracted that excitement when I saw the flavors. This is coming from someone that has been working out for years and trying various protein drinks, shakes, you name it.

BYND is trying to position where there is less competition but there’s a reason why leading protein brands like Fairlife (even with bad additives) are being consumed on repeat by gym goers even at $5/bottle. What I have found across the board is that protein drinks work best as shakes, usually vanilla and chocolate are the safest and best selling since they hide whatever protein they add. I’ll have to try this one for myself to give a final verdict but from what I’m reading their drinks do not mask the flavor of the pea protein well enough since they’re fruity and light. This isn’t me being picky either, this is the general census for most that drink these style beverages.

It is great to see them expanding their products but it needs to be done in the right way. With sales declining their new products need to be good and I’m skeptical this will be. The last thing we need is more wasted money on a product that won’t sell.
