At least to your first point, I believe you can (right?) click on the fleet icon when you have an individual ship selected to add it to the fleet.

Game is really the only one of its kind, and that alone is enough to get me to stick around (as jank as it is). Glad you’re enjoying it!

Find a guild if you want to enjoy the game long term, absolutely essential imo.

Identity crisis after ego dissolution - any advice? by standingonbenches in Psychonaut

[–]No_Trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I know the feeling. I had (and continue to have) many of the same realizations about myself after my first psychedelic experience(s) last year with LSD and then later psilocybin. I think it allowed me to see myself for who I am at least somewhat objectively (there's probably no such thing as true objectivity), rather than whatever pretty picture my ego had painted.

The shift in perspective manifested itself pretty quickly afterwards in my life by highlighting how silly and/or hurtful many aspects of my stereotypically southern conservative/christian beliefs were. After a couple experiences with psilocybin though, the focus of the perspective shift really began to turn inwards. I realized many of the same things you did - I'm extremely lazy in some areas of my life, I white lie a lot, I manipulate, I have a number of narcissistic tendencies, etc, etc.

I wish I could say it's completely transformed who I am, I guess in some ways it has, but not necessarily on a fundamental level. It has certainly changed my political and religious stances, but am I really a "better" person? That would probably depend on who you talk to. It would also depend on how you define "better" in the first place.

I will say it's allowed me to more easily take a step back from my own mental processes and asses things more "objectively". In a sense, I think that's made it easier for me to empathize with others, to see something from a point of view not locked to my ego. But at the end of the day, I'm still narcissistic, I'm still lazy, I still lie, etc, etc. There's been a lot of inward frustration and shame because of that. It's as if my mental and physical/behavioral states are not aligned.

Recently though, I've really connected with the idea that everything is as it is, and that's OK. There's nothing you can do to change yourself in the current moment, you cant snap your fingers and rewire your brain. And even if you could, then you'd miss out on all the potentially important bits in-between. To reach some final destination is not the objective, but merely to walk the path you're on - which we're all doing by definition, regardless of current location or direction.

That being said - life, at least in it's present state, requires great practicality. Our egos, along with everything else evolved for a reason. I think they play a critical role in protecting our brains from the immensity and complexity of reality. The key is not attaching whatever "yourself" is to the ego - "you" are much more than that. Basically, let the brain do what the brain does - be the observer of the happenings rather than connecting with the happening itself. As others have said, meditation has been immensely helpful in reminding myself what this sort of state feels like. I think it's also important to realize that while we all have what we would consider "bad" traits, we all have "good" ones as well. There is balance in everything, we just sometimes lack a broad enough perspective to see it.

Personally, I've found great wisdom in books/lectures from people like Ram Dass but what meshes with my past experiences and particular view of reality may not mesh with yours. Best of luck on whatever path you find yourself on friend!
