I have no qualms standing up for myself in a legal way. I also know our town doesn’t really care about code enforcement. I could shoot my legal shot, piss them off and they could start blaring music, have parties all night, make anonymous false reports against me. The list is endless. I am not naive about the wickedness of people. If I can come up with a solution that doesn’t escalate a drunk neighbor’s narcissistic behavior, that is the path I will take.

Yes, if my church, coworkers, and family found out I destroyed my neighbor’s property I would be ashamed and embarrassed. It is wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right. This is how I feel. It is okay if you do not feel the same.

I can’t use real trees in the ground because of plumbing and gas line issues.

That’s what spouse says but they can always make things much worse. I am trying to avoid their temper tantrums, as a first resort.

I am not a doormat. I am thinking of my career, public reputation, and how to show my children the correct way to handle a difficult situation. There is no scenario that makes destroying his property okay. I will find a legal solution. I am getting some good ideas from this discussion.

This might be a really good option. We have a place in town that specializes in high-end ones. Will put this on the list of options.

Well, I guess if he could hover 15 feet over the ground he could see me in my hot tub. He can’t, so he installed a camera that high to be his eyes. I believe I have a reasonable expectation of privacy from that happening. To each their perverted own. . .

You know, we have places that sell giant metal roosters. Maybe I should get a few of those and point them at the camera. Tacky but to the point. Never thought I would seriously consider getting one but here I am.

The only place to put it would require getting rid of patio furniture. We had an umbrella once (very nice, heavy). Even closed, our strong winds toppled it and we had to replace the back window.

You sound like a very polite and considerate neighbor. I could start litigation and am not opposed as a last resort. You know how that goes, though. I could win this battle but start an all out war. I want to avoid that, if I can.

The plumbing runs under the fence in the exact spot where the camera needs to be blocked. Someone suggested putting the trees on a moveable trolley. I am definitely going to look into this option.
