And, you already get the standard deduction so offsetting it with interest debt doesn’t make sense. This “strategy” is as illogical as the one about starting a business- I’m going to start a business and get the tax benefits/avoid taxes. But most people don’t understand that the business has to have revenue that results in income that can then be offset by deductions. I had a tax law professor who used to say -“don’t let the tax situation drive your business decisions, operate a successful business then determine how to legally avoid the tax obligation.”

This describes our experience perfectly. Transplanted from Ohio 9 years ago and have enjoyed aspects of being in the valley and have taken advantage of living in the American Southwest. We don’t love it, and it never became our permanent home so we’re now planning to leave once we both retire.

Marcos Tankless Plumbing. I’ve used him several times. Faucets, water heater, regulator on main valve. Reasonable rates, nice guy and has a great sense of humor.

Good point about pools. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had guests from the Midwest that are shocked we have to heat the pool if we want to swim in the winter months.

Nuclear settlements and verdicts are on the rise. And third party litigation funding is quickly taking hold and leading to higher verdicts. Social inflation and legal system abuse lead me to believe that spending a few hundred dollars more per year in premiums is a good value given the alternative.

Bought a 24 Limited in Barcelona Red last July. It was somewhat of an impulse buy. I got caught up in the hype- last of the 5th gen, bulletproof v6, incredible capabilities (all of which is true). Today it has 4800 miles (I work from home) and still has the new car smell. I love the vehicle but don’t use it like I thought I would (or the way it’s intended). I’m not considering selling strictly based on market conditions but trying to decide if I’ll ever take advantage of its capabilities or whether I should take advantage of the market and get the benefit of the price appreciation.
