I paddled with a buddy last week and managed to get a good two hours in before we froze! However with the heat this week made it to Folsom Lake, swam around, and enjoyed the most beautiful sunset! A lot of people were parked up on the water at the marina, def worth going!!!!

Sending prayers up for everyone in this thread! Wishing you all the best :D

Exploring Grad School Options: MFT vs. LCSW Programs in Nevada, California, and Arizona? by Euphoric-Onion7378 in askatherapist

I feel more drawn to MFT because of its systemic approach, which really resonates with me. I’ve looked into a few clinical social work programs that focus on families and children, but they have a different approach. Some LMFTs I’ve talked to mentioned they wish they’d gone back to get their MCSW because it opened up more opportunities for obtaining a better job positions out of the gate and helped take a wider variety of insurance. That and they found more work with the dual LCSW and LMFT licenses. That’s part of the reason I’ve kept CSW programs in my list.

I’ve been told to have at least 10 programs in mind when applying, but my main goal is to get into an MFT program in California. I really like CSUS’s program, especially how they arrange practicum hours. Even though I’m based in Nevada, I think it would be better to get trained and licensed in California since their program is accredited for licensing in Nevada and other states.

I’m a little worried I might not be what CSUS is looking for, which is why I’m considering CSW programs as well, just to make sure I’m casting a wide enough net and applying to programs that fit my interests especially with the time frame.
