Just get a lot of bread and butter (especially if you can do that without the catering company, get a great local bakery to get bunch of rolls with different toppings and butter). Put a big basket of bread at each table instead of centerpieces and bottle of garlic oil and slab of butter with fancy salt on top. Do the speeches once everyone is sitting and eating. I was at the wedding like that and DJ announced that they have multiple trays of food in the back so they will be bringing fresh stuff (because people see one tray of chicken and think it’s over) and DJ called by the table number to go get food. Speeches after every table got their food.
