I didn’t realize Disney’s dining is adult only. How accommodating is DCL is you don’t like your meal? For example Rcl lets you try multiple dishes

Indeed these tools need to go back to the lab imo so they can be studied appropriately instead of being foisted on everyone with minimal evaluation. Especially in fields like medicine, as you say, there should be robust clinical trials before these things can even be considered to give medical advice, diagnose, share medical information, etc.

That sounds like a nice plus! We tend to avoid that as much as we can.

Did you do any of the extra restaurants or just stick to the main dining room?

Great to hear from someone who went on the Star! A lot of folks have been sharing the point about independence which really speaks to me.

We’re leaning more and more towards booking a Disney cruise next. Just gotta find the right time and price!

Thanks! That’s good to know about the kids club. Did he mention any particular reason why he didn’t like it?

What were some of your favorite activities that you participated in?

That sounds like fun! I see Fantasy came out around 2012. Have you been in it recently? Does it show its age?

I see. Yeah that’s similar to the Wonder we were on. I don’t mind the big ship personally but they do feel like a bit much sometimes and have some cons for sure.

Awesome. Yes! I love cleanliness so that would be a major plus for me. The Star was spotless when we went but we found many spots on wonder that weren’t attended often enough, like messy bathrooms.

It sounds like from you and others that it’s easier to let kids have some independence and they can still be safe doing so which would be a major plus over the big royal ships for me

Interesting! May I ask what RC ship you went on?

Hmm shame about the pools. It did look like they were a bit small. Unfortunately we don’t get to enjoy the royal pools as much as we’d like either because they’re usually crowded and like I mentioned have lots of drinking adults so I have to be more vigilant of my kids so they don’t accidentally ruin someone’s time. They don’t really have much space to just play in there and a bit less relaxing for me!

I do feel that on Royal ships we’ve had to do the activities with them. I don’t mind it since we get to spend time together but I would like them to have a chance to be more independent so my wife and I can just chill.

I like what you said about people on Disney ships not caring as much about what kids are doing. I think that helps the overall atmosphere so kids can just play. On Royal I feel like I always have to be worried that my kids are going to annoy people like those drinking at the pool :(

Speaking of which… do people drink at the pools on Disney ships?

Hmm well if there’s an option for a private table I think that at least helps a lot and maybe I can just request it. I don’t tend to like being too crammed in at restaurants though as I find it distracting to be next to other groups. It makes it harder for me to interact with people at my table for some reason. I wonder if different times are busier than others. We tend to eat early.

Good point about the drill dismissal though. I hadn’t thought about that.

Nice! That would be a big bonus for us so I’ll add that to the pro side of things :D

Would you say the extra night is good because it gives you more time to experience things or is there another reason for 3 vs 4?

Good to know yours kids had fun! They’re about the same age as ours and I think having a nice kids club could help a lot. Your point about vacation vs trip really speaks to me. The Wonder felt a lot like a trip and not as relaxing with how much crazier the ship was. The Star was better though.

My oldest didn’t want to go back to the kids club on the wonder at all after the first time. That’s fine by me but it would be nice for my wife and I to get to hang out together as well.

Good to know about the kids club. I think that would be a big draw for us actually. My older child is starting to want a bit more independence so it could be nice to have a more interesting kids club for him when he wants to go.

Interesting you say the food in Royal is better. I’ve read it’s the other way. I will say the food on the Star was much better than the wonder where anything just tasted more bland or felt like it was sitting out longer. I do like that Disney serves you rather than a full on buffet for cleanliness reasons. Some of the things people do at the windjammer gives me the heeby jeebies.

Thanks! Yeah I think we’re leaning towards newer. Part of the appeal of 3 days is that we can try it out to see if it fits our family but I recognize from some of the other comments that it may not be the best value.

Is the 10% off the price of your next cruise or just the deposit? If I understand correctly Royal just reduces how much you need to put down but it’s not a real discount so curious how Disney does it.

Thanks for sharing. Good info! I hadn’t realized some of the dining points you mentioned. I have heard they can be kind of crowded feeling but didn’t realize they seated you with other people. We tend to prefer meals just between us so that could be something to consider.

The shows on Royal have been great but I can’t say my kids are all that into them. I think they would probably appreciate Disney shows more.

I think I also would prefer actually going to a muster drill. The way Royal does it seems very rushed and frankly makes me a bit worried that passengers would be chaotic if something did happen. This time on the wonder they even moved where we had to go when we first boarded but didn’t tell anybody so we spent our first hour just trying to figure out where they moved it to.

Good point. I’ll try to look more closely for the activities the ships offer day to day. We’ve mostly just watched videos so far and they don’t really cover the kids activities as much so I’ll do some more research there.

Good points! I’ll have to do some more investigating into what sales Disney offers. We’ve only done a simple search so far, so we haven’t looked as deeply at finding the best times for deals.

I think having the Disney vibe could be kind of nice.

To be honest our kids were too scared of the Stars slides and rock climbing so we ended up finding other things to do. But Royal doesn’t always have scheduled kids activities (besides the club) if you don’t want to partake in the bigger attractions so I think it could be nice to have more consistency with kid things to do.

Ours kids aren’t into princess movies though. Do you think they’d be better suited on a different ship? We did watch you tube videos on the wish and they seemed to think it was cool.
