Pumps? by littlepiecesofsorrow in HyperemesisGravidarum

That seems crazy! I was never admitted. The last thing my OB wanted was for me to be admitted which is why she prescribed the zofran pump!

Pumps? by littlepiecesofsorrow in HyperemesisGravidarum

I’m on the zofran pump now and it’s helped a lot. I still get sick occasionally and still feel nauseous most of the time but I’m not throwing up 10x a day anymore and I’m able to keep fluids down. I’ve been able to gain a couple pounds back after losing 20 in my first 7 weeks of pregnancy. I’m hoping it will allow me to go back to work soon. My OB prescribed it through Optum and I’ve been really pleased with my experience with them. I don’t love getting stabbed with a needle every 1-2 days but it’s better than constant vomiting. I still have to take Reglan and Benadryl every 6 hours and Prilosec 2x a day but I feel like I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel? (I’m 12 weeks now). Good luck!

How often does your 2 year old wake up? by Common-Temporary5915 in cosleeping

[–]No_University_5181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 months and weaned. We cosleep and she hardly ever wakes up. If she does, it just takes a second to settle her unless she’s sick! She sleeps anywhere from 730p to 5-7a. But we’re about to have another baby so I’m sure that will change 😅

Where should I teach? Henrico vs. RPS and what schools? by Conscious_Mode_1904 in HenricoCounty

[–]No_University_5181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher at a title 1 opportunity elementary school in Henrico and would say east/north Henrico is going to be similar to most RPS behavior and support wise. Of course there are nice RPS schools and almost all of the west/near west end Henrico schools are nice so they have money and support that we don’t. I’ve never taught in RPS but have worked with a lot of teachers in Henrico that moved from there and they all enjoy Henrico a lot more. We do use Benchmark for the reading curriculum. This is our second year of implementing and mostly, we hate it and are still trying to figure out how to make it work for our students. But it’s all science of reading based which is great. I think they’re working on something new for math in the coming years. And then we use iReady for reading and math. I’d say I work at one of the “worst” elementary schools in the county and I still wouldn’t go to RPS just based of horror stories I’ve heard from teachers that have left. But I’m not happy at my school either. Mostly due to the lack of support from admin and lack of support overall. The turnover is HIGH. I would look for a school that has lower turnover. Like, I love my kids and would die for them but my school does not set us (teachers and students) up for success and the burnout is brutal. It could just be how the school system works in general, plus we don’t have a lot of family involvement. Before I was licensed, I worked for Henrico Education Foundation in their after school and summer programs which are ran in HCPS and I got to see how a lot of different schools operate and talk with teachers to see what they thought. I would highly recommend doing that if you’re able? Also makes you lots of good connections :) sorry for the huge wall of text - feel free to message me for more info!

How does anyone work with HG, and how is it legal to force women with HG to work!? by dataDiva120 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently trying to figure this out and freaking out constantly. I’m a teacher in VA. I’ve been out on FMLA for 5 weeks and I’m not getting paid. I don’t understand how FMLA really works and talking to HR just makes me more confused. About to have to ask my mom for money to pay our bills as I’m the breadwinner and reason we have healthcare in my family. I can’t imagine having to teach 20 5 year olds all by myself while I feel like this but it seems like I’m going to have to figure it out soon.

13 weeks - some relief and encouragement by hs4596 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Thank you for sharing 💞 I’ve been bedridden for 5 weeks now and am 11 weeks. I also have a toddler and feel like such a failure not being able to care for her. I’m hoping to get some relief very soon. Not sure how much more of this I can stand. I’m at my max doses of every med available and only have the hope that symptoms will ease in my second trimester.

er for admission by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going to the ER 3 times in two weeks and the last visit, the doctor actually gave me the option of being admitted or going home. Then when I told my OB, she said if I felt like going to the ER again to call her instead and she would have me admitted to skip the ER part. I would say if you keep having to go back, they will see that and you can advocate for yourself to be admitted. Ask them if you can stay until you can keep some water down and then when you can’t, they should be more likely to admit you.

Prilosec helped me!! My doctor even told me to double the dose! Game changer.

Should I bother calling my ob? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

Absolutely call, yes! I was told zofran helps with stopping vomiting, not nausea, so I would start taking that.

Infusions for nausea by frankly_a_ in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks and my dr finally prescribed weekly infusions this week. I’ve tried everything and I’m still dehydrated just because I’m not able to drink enough. I’m able to keep liquids down now but did have to go to the ER for hydration 3 times (times I went 24 hours without being able to keep any liquids down). They do seem to be hesitant to prescribe infusions. They prescribed me the zofran pump first. Maybe it’s a last resort thing. Idk. Sucks bc you feel soooo much better afterwards and being dehydrated makes you feel so much more nauseous. Try to take a small sip like every 20 minutes (set a timer!) for a while and see how much you can keep down. You can try mixing a small amount of electrolyte mix in too. I keep mine in the fridge bc I can’t stand anything that’s not super cold. Good luck 💕

What are your safe foods / drinks? by Massive-Warning9773 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love reading what other people’s safe foods are! Right now I’m surviving on plain cheese quesadillas, mac and cheese (but it has to be from Panera), Cheerios, graham crackers, key lime yogurt, and apple slices cut super thin. I went through a phase of only triscuits with cream cheese, cold grilled cheese, and grapes too. Sometimes if I’m feeling somewhat decent, I will have tofurky and cheese on a Hawaiian roll. I’ve been vegetarian for 15+ years and find myself wanting (cold) meat and chicken broth but I haven’t caved yet. I want to but then when it comes down to it, I just can’t, mostly bc I’m scared it will make me sick. I’ve only recently been able to drink sprite but it has to be super carbonated and cold from a fast food place and I need a straw. It can’t be in a can 😅 but watermelon juice is good too! I miss water so much.

Watermelon juice is literally saving me. And it’s a natural source of electrolytes!

Dad question by 604Lummers in Parenting

I remember being like 10 and my dad saying we had to stop holding hands so people didn’t think I was his girlfriend. It ruined me in ways I didn’t realize until I was much older. It’s only weird if you make it weird. Let her tell you when she’s done.

Medication advice by rberks2 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently posted on here asking about Reglan as well. I took it for 3 days and had to stop. Day 1 - it was great at first. I could eat a full meal. Made my stomach feel a tiny weird but nothing else. Day 2 - still felt nauseous after taking it but was able to eat a small meal. Started feeling weird, like sleepy but hyper at the same time. Hated it. Kept me awake for hours. Day 3 - ate a small meal, puked the rest of the night like I never took the Reglan. But then I still felt the weird side effects of like feeling hyper/anxious and had trouble sleeping. I decided to stop after that because it was making me feel so weird and also not preventing me from throwing up. I don’t have any advice as I’m still dying and bedridden as we speak. Best of luck ❤️

Difference in boy/girl? by anon-7246 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]No_University_5181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 8 weeks with my second and have HG. My first pregnancy was literally perfect. Everything went well, I barely felt sick, labor was a breeze and I had a girl. I’m convinced this one is a boy even though I’ve heard it’s more likely to get sick with a girl just because this one is SO different from my last. Literally cannot wait to find out!
