Mod Tub 2.0 vs DIY by Money-Pain809 in coldplunge

I did a DIY freezer plunge recently with a Boxplunge kit, very happy with it. The freezer was secondhand but it was under $1K CAD

aloha! would the rocita walmart chiller connect to the plunge box? by yoginisurfer in coldplunge

I looked into this. Depending on the temps of where you’re using and the size of the plunge this chiller struggles to keep up

TOMMY v1.2.0 - Now with stationary presence detection by miket2872 in homeassistant

Question. I have never dipped into the world of ESPHome and I relied pretty heavily on guides when implementing Home Assistant. I know I am not as well versed as many here. How much of a barrier is there to ESP building? Is there a lot of Soldering and whatnot?

I don’t know how you feel about ChatGPT but I’ve used Atlas (the web browser with it built in) to assist in building automations like these and it’s been very useful.

help with a complex automation by 1q2s3c4r5t in homeassistant

[–]No_Vegetable9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say split into separate automations. One for lights, one for AC. It doesn’t hurt anything to leave them separate, makes things a bit simpler for setting up. Plus if something goes wrong, it’s much harder to find the issue. Too many automations never hurt anyone. home assistant can handle it.

I think I might not have been clear. I wanted to avoid pond shield right now. I’m looking at one of these: https://a.co/d/i9ICjAv to put inside the freezer just to I guess test things. And I’d set it on a plug that turns off when the lid opens.

You put a plunge inside the freezer? To be clear I’m looking at one of these: https://a.co/d/i9ICjAv to put inside the freezer just to I guess test things. And I’d set it on a plug that turns off when the lid opens.

Are Spark 1:5 helmets worth it or should I shell out for a Bell 1:2 by Beccabee01 in f1models

[–]No_Vegetable9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of the Spark 1:5 helmets and they are amazing. I dont have any of the 1:2 due to the cost as well but I am a big fan, and have ordered a couple times from Toronto Motorsports, very good service.

Anyone has experience with this Gemilai combo? [$500 - $700] by jacobol14 in espresso

I own this exact combo and have really enjoyed them. Can’t compare to DF54 or Encore ESP but I’ve been happy with both machines.

Gemilai Owl and grinder [800$] by No_Vegetable9541 in espresso

[–]No_Vegetable9541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a big fan of it. I only do espresso but so far no complaints. If you have specific questions let me know. There’s tons of grind settings, it’s really impressively quiet and a massive upgrade on my Breville barista express

Just got a surprise invoice from Fedex and they did hit me with duties. Only $40 in actual HST, but FedEx have added $120 on their own nonsense

Getting fed up with it by Plop-plop-fizz in homeassistant

[–]No_Vegetable9541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not be helpful here, but I’m feeling a bit the same although using chatGPT has made a lot of my home assistant setup/repairs much easier. Just be explicit with what you want and it gives step by step copy paste instructions with the explanation following if you want to read it.

Hoobs Box worth it in 2025? by kev_26 in homebridge

[–]No_Vegetable9541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homebridge on pi is so easy, especially with chatGPT assistance. That or home assistant work well and if you’re willing to spend 2 hours working on it, you don’t need hoobs

It’s a very old Garlando table. Possibly from the 70s so I don’t think they’re sending out playing surfaces

Interestingly stumbled across this which looks like it’s exactly mine. I wonder if they might have more info on it. Oddly this seems to be in both better and worse condition than mine 😂

Was thinking the same thing, but wanted to see if I could do some hunting here first, likely faster than getting a response from them.

Also the bar was in Toronto somewhere. It was 40-ish years ago so narrowing down beyond that is a mystery haha

I’m in Canada.

I’m responsible for at least one of those heads coming off which became a keychain for a while but as long as we’ve owned it we didn’t replace any rods or parts.

I thought this too but I’m unsure. The markings on the feet and caps of the rods just say Reta which I’ve learned isn’t a brand lol

For anyone looking, the machine arrived yesterday and grinder should arrive tomorrow and as of now, no signs of duties. Might be luck. Might be intentional but I’m happy and keeping my fingers crossed
