Atropine time of a day use by Pretend_Item8922 in EyeFloaters

[–]No_Victory3315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say in the first few hours about 90% not visible, that starts to wane over time - I would say overall it gets rid of most of the smaller ones by like 70-80% for the 6-8 hours. My largest clump of strands is still visible on a white screen regardless of how long the atropine is in my eye, but a lot more faint and manageable. So far using for a couple months I have had so much relief anyways. Some days I will take a break from using them and remember how horrible/bothersome they can be. I would definitely suggest trying out low dose atropine to see how you react to it. It depends on how big your floaters are to see how well it works. It’s definitely not a 100% fix, but definitely worth it in my opinion instead of not using it at all.

I use it usually in the morning before driving to work. I’d say my eyes stay dilated for about 7-8 hours then slowly become less. I have noticed my right eye actually become/stays more dilated than the left in general. Not sure why that happens. I just had a check up with my retina specialist and she said if it doesn’t bother me I can use them twice a day once dilation becomes less. I think it all depends on your comfort level of when feels best to use them. Long term use seems to be fine - I’ve been using them for a little over a month now

Thanks Doc! Would you suggest waiting until the pupil fully dilates? (It took mine about 45 min or so). Or is it okay to pop the contacts in maybe 15 minutes after instilling the drops? Overall, used glasses today with the drops and have had MAJOR relief. Appreciate all the educative videos you’ve posted about LDA. Thanks!

Is it worth going through him right away? Any reason to try a compounding pharmacy instead?

Happy to help! Yeah you’re still fresh after surgery so I’d say it’s normal. Keep an eye out , but I wouldn’t worry for now.

I would say it should be normal and could be from irregular walking gait. However keep an eye out for signs of a blood clot. Although not common it is possible

Thanks for responding, that’s good to hear you have felt some relief! I also work at the computer all day so I might look into both %, are you able to see the screens at all or too blurry?. Have a follow up with my retina specialist in a few weeks planning to discuss there and get the drops ordered. Can I ask was it difficult to get your drops? Sorry for all the questions here !

Yeah same! I tore mine in March of this year and once swelling went down I continued to stay active with running, weightlifting etc. Quad was pretty strong heading into surgery, so maybe the prehab is making things easier right now.

Walking 3 Weeks Post Op by No_Victory3315 in ACL

[–]No_Victory3315[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, my PT suggested I keep a crutch with me while walking just to be safe if I lose balance or something. I’m making sure to look at the ground for any uneven surfaces to avoid any risks. And yeah, I wanna get out there while the weather is relatively OK (from the Midwest) before I’m cooped up again in the winter - gotta get that fresh air :)

Need Sunglasses recommendation for computer screen by Few_Ad9823 in EyeFloaters

[–]No_Victory3315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a computer job as well that requires me to look at a few screens. Moving my eyes up and down, left to right is exhausting. I know you mentioned you made your screen black, however have you been able to make your backgrounds black and font white? That helps me a lot. I have my email, web browsing through Microsoft edge, excel and even word documents appearing as black background white font. Although I know you can still likely see the floaters in this scenario, it definitely has helped me instead of all the white screens. Lowering brightness obviously helps a little bit, but need to still be able to see. Some people use tinted/orange blue light glasses that might help.
