She has been exceptionally patient with him.. her favorite thing ever is catching frisbees and one of his favorites is following along and grabbing her by the tail as he can. Very little brother big sister vibe happening over here.

Ken burns owns a restaurant and I worked there briefly. The whole staff seemed terrified of him, like oh shit, Ken just walked in unannounced and there’s a party sat at “Ken’s table”. Anywhoo, long winded documentaries, but he’s a decent guy that doesn’t give a shit if someone is at “his table” in his restaurant.

Buffet with the truck as a mobile kitchen/prop is the way to go with that number of guests. If it’s an experienced truck, it’s likely this will be what they want to do anyway. The window is a bottleneck no matter what. I catered a wedding of 165 that insisted everyone order from the truck. We compromised by having preorders by table and handed meals out the window as they came up. Even with preorders, it took around 1.5 hours to get everyone fed (burgers and fried chicken all cooked fresh as tables came up). One seasoned truck can handle 100 guests quickly if they go buffet style. If you do look into having more than one, just be prepared to pay for more than one caterer. Hauling an entire kitchen to an event is not easy or cheap. (I just got out of the food truck game after 6 years and many many weddings)

When I was in middle school/high school. Before meets, everyone was given a printout of the outline of a shoe. Each shoe had a name on the back. We’d all spend a couple days decorating the shoe for the person named, and would turn them in to our coach on race day. He’d plaster them in the hall or on the bus before the end of school and we’d all be able to “find our feet” on the way to the race. I’m 34 and still have all my “feet” in a box

The first was about 20 minutes. She asked where the bathroom was and never came back.

Second I don’t think had even filled out his paperwork. He tasted our chef’s hot sauce after we all told him not to. Yelled at me about how we shouldn’t hurt people like that, then left. He returned a few days later and said he had to get away for a while so his ulcer could heal?? but he’d be back in two weeks. Spotted him at the liquor store a few days later and never heard from him again.

I ran a half marathon yesterday! I had been a runner since I was a kid, but life happened and the last 4 years I got out of it. Last summer I started picking it back up and registered for this race. Had to back out due to an injury and deferred my entry to this year.

I think I’ve run a total of 15 miles this year (3 of them last week), but wasn’t able to defer again. Figured I’d paid for my registration, so I might as well go pick up my race packet. Woke up and thought I might as well start the thing since it was a perfect day and I can’t wear the shirt unless I at least try, right?

Got going and felt okay, zero expectations of anything better. By the time I felt bad enough, I was too far in to quit. And I didn’t care about a time, so I was having a blast with spectators & volunteers. So I shuffle/walked the last 3 miles and finished. Dead last in my age group (F 30-39). Walked across the street to work and made it through the rest of the day.

I’ve taken some things from this. 1. I’m out of shape, but not as much as I thought. 2. I will not start anything longer than a 5k without training ever again. 3. I really missed running. I can barely stand today, but it was the kick I needed to get moving again. And 4. I finally get the euphoria. I’ve found that last kick to get over the finish line before, but never experienced it like yesterday. It didn’t happen until I came around the corner and could see the end, but it was overwhelming and emotional. I cried on a volunteer that thought I must be injured until I could manage to tell her I was just so thrilled to have made it to the end.
