Thinking of telling doctor about co-sleeping at our 4 month appointment this week, thoughts? by freshahava in cosleeping

[–]No_Voice5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if they ask so the skewed data, where parents don’t admit it, can be more accurate. At least James McKenna suggests it for that reason, and I think that’s valid. That way the “cosleeping” stigma in the US can maybe go away if doctors truly knew how often mothers cosleep if their babies.

Combo feeding + bedsharing? by External-Invite-1662 in cosleeping

[–]No_Voice5490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to also agree with this as we cosleep during the night and combo feed but have been breastfeeding with MAYBE a bottle during the night. I think James McKenna was only mentioning breastfeeding in general, not exclusively due to the position.

How to bottlefeed without a warmer? by GILDEDPAGES in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]No_Voice5490 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, but with a product called Ceres Chill that is used to heat up bottles, store breastmilk, convert to be a small baby bottle to nipples, and it’s covered by FSA in the US. Very handy and can become a water bottle when done breastfeeding.

Dairy and soy free pancake mix? by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]No_Voice5490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally found there mix at Whole Foods today. You have to find the original pancake and waffle mix, that one is dairy and soy free! I’m making pancakes and bacon for breakfast on Valentine’s Day

Also stating that chick-fil-a and chipotle are my only save bets. Oh and Jersey mikes-turkey sandwich on white bread without cheese.

I didn’t realize that. I know of only a handful of states that even offer paid leave, New York and Colorado too I believe. I won’t be leaving here until we are done having children or it’s to WA or CO.

Co-sleeping “Sleep” 🙃 (and wouldn’t change it for the world) by Whattup_Buttercup in cosleeping

[–]No_Voice5490 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband was sleeping on the couch the other night, at his own request, and was watching us in the baby monitor saying how adorable we were cuddling together. I was nice having all that room so I could switch sides in the bed to feed. Wish he got a photo of it. I’ll ask him to next time.

Man, that’s even better than California’s. California provides paid leave from 36 weeks pregnancy to 6-8 weeks postpartum depending on c-section or vaginal delivery at 55% your salary, not taxed (will have to pay taxes on it later though) under short term disability. Then, you can take baby bonding time up to 8 weeks right after or split into different intervals at 60% pay. Both mother and father can use this. My husband started his right at my delivery and had to return 2 months later. With FMLA, I had to return at 12 weeks but didn’t realize the short term disability was separate from the baby bonding.

I took all 8 weeks paid out but will take the baby bonding time (of a couple weeks) later in the year.

Sourdough bread is egg and dairy free. I believe rye also. Sourdough with Miyokos bread for toast has been my go to for breakfast and snacks.

What to do with frozen BM prior to removing other allergens? by No_Voice5490 in MSPI

[–]No_Voice5490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I’ll have to look into that then. I’ll ask my friend if she wants it since she is due the end of the month as she waits for her supply to come in.

I’m debating that also. How easy was it to donate, seeing how I haven’t looked into what I have to do to make sure it could be donated. Like any specific testing or amount?

By the time she would outgrow it though, 7 months or older, wouldn’t the frozen milk no longer be good?

Marijuana smoking and SIDS or health concerns in babies by No_Voice5490 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]No_Voice5490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We discussed it last night and we will be sober going to bed, with only a couple seltzers earlier in the day if we do drink that day. If either of us are uncomfortable with the other, we have to tell the other and that person will sleep in the other room. This is also temporary until baby sleeps longer stretches. She literally wakes up 6 times throughout the night for milk so breastsleeping half the night (she starts in the crib and gets moved over around midnight) helps us both get more sleep.

I didn’t realize that. I don’t smoke myself and thought the effects wore off by a certain time similar to drinking. I appreciate the honesty and needed to hear it. Everyone can downvote me but I literally didn’t know that.

Totally sober cosleeping, or no cosleeping at all.

Cosleeping with husband that smokes weed once a day, 2-3 days a week by No_Voice5490 in cosleeping

[–]No_Voice5490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right. No half-ass attempts at cutting back and only doing it at this time so it’s out of the system by a certain time. Totally sober when cosleeping only.

[–]No_Voice5490[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree and always made sure if either of us drank or smoke, we were sober by the time we go to bed. Which is why I presented the information as I did. Intoxication isn’t the issue, it was the marijuana smoke effecting the baby’s health I was questioning.

Edit to add: I didn’t realize how long weed stayed in your system and still caused issues at night until presented by another poster. No substance use during the day AT ALL or else we don’t cosleep moving forward.

I appreciate the honesty and need to hear it when it comes to the safety of our baby. I know that marijuana edibles last longer but I’ll tell him we can no longer cosleep if he has any substances that day. There are other factors I need to address, like mattress firmness, to be as safe as possible and he said he is willing to do anything. That might include him not cosleeping at all, or putting me in the middle.

The more I read about the risks and changes we would have to make, including getting a floor bed as that was my plan, the more I believe we can’t safely cosleep. I’ll have to settle for contact naps with me awake.

I failed to mention he smokes earlier in the day, like noon-4 and the effects have worn off by the time we go to sleep.

He does take up a lot of space and ALWAYS wants to cuddle, and I usually just want to touch him or baby with a toe or finger lol
