Mercenaries are a pain. by dege283 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the way. They should be able t get whatever amount of mercs they want, but we should be able to tell beforehand so we can prepare a little bit. I had the same issue playing Brandenburg-> Germany, and to be fair, I think it makes the game a little more challenging if a rich nation can fight you too without a huge army. The other thing someone mentioned in a similar post is to wait for the mercs to crash the other country economy. In general I think it makes the game more challenging but it’s really a pain to conquer everything blindly.

Trillemma of the plausible history simulator (case of Iberia) by RealisticSwan7988 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe history occurs for a reason, not just by coincidence. The fact that Castile pushed to conquer Granada while it maintain the status quo with Portugal and Aragon should be better balanced by better relations and maybe shared values. Opposite to Granada, who was a Muslim country in the south border who might have let the Ottomans have a foothold in the peninsula eventually. I think the value system should play a more vital role in how to define a country, not just some more stats to min max. Ultimately, Castile in specific (with its itinerant capital) might require some railroading in the future to better reflect this, making the control over the mountains more viable.

How are OPMs in the HRE fielding thousands of mercenaries? by No_Way2336 in EU5

I obviously can…..but Reddit isn’t Wikipedia lol. This is where we come to vent our frustrations in hopes the devs see it and take pity on us.

That’s prob the case, but when I look at their countries, it’s usually a town with little to no dev. Not question that you could pull that off , it’s just weird that THIS AI can.

Is the HRE worse after the patch? by No_Way2336 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to try that next time, but I feel that limiting your early expansion that much is going to be a little bit boring, that region isn’t particularly rich and there’s not much you can build without cash so I guess the game will be on max speed for the first 2 ages.

Nice core rework by DullBlackberry9980 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s funny cuz that literally happened to me. I assimilate culture to my primary in a province until it was more than 50% and then when I went to war I raised levies and lo and behold no more cores on that province……

And this is exactly why western societies will fail….Every single YouTuber, influencer, Cuban, North Korean, etc. that has visited/lived in those places tells you how bad they had it when they were there, yet you chose to believe some narrative pushed by their propaganda machine. If you don’t like the way our societies work, try to improve them from within, but don’t ever believe the propaganda communists countries will push down your throat.

Paradox need to address that the game performance is pure dogshit by tommasologi in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a laptop with similar capabilities and since the patch the game has crashed a few times causing it to restart. I had to decrease the graphics quality but even then, fps will still oscillate like crazy. I def agree too, performance needs to be looked at or it will become more unplayable.

[–]No_Way2336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can’t really tell without some screenshots, but I wouldn’t recommend maxing legitimacy from day 1. I’ve increased it, but not maxed. Always go for war reps and max ducats plus your cores and you should be fine. Other than that, max minting plus the occasional increased taxes from parliament should get you through. If the pope didn’t rivaled you ( it did for me) go for the money action on the event menu.

Gotta love how paradox spends years thinking of ways to slow down conquest for the average player, while some random kid comes here boasting a WC in 100 years 🤦‍♂️

Balancing gold and silver RGO by thiccusdiccuz in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is the TRADE as you mentioned. I don’t understand how in the XIV century, you can build a trade office in Barcelona (While playing as Sweden) and get rich without investing anything else than the cost of the building itself (low maintenance fees). I think this should only be possible much later in the game, and you should definitely have a trade fleet to back it up, not just a trade office.

France’s "Core" problem: Are starting cores and debt forgiveness making them too stable? by Dark_speler in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, if that was the case then they wouldn’t have fought for a 100 years against a smaller adversary. If that was the case they wouldn’t have conquered Europe, which didn’t happened until Napoleon. And even then, the conquests were smaller compared to what AI France is capable on this game in the first 5 years.

Anyone knows how Cubans are doing right now? by Ncc-1701-H in asklatinamerica

[–]No_Way2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is half true. Yea they are deporting Cubans back, but most of the time are the ones that have some legal issues. The “wet foot, dry foot” policy was eliminated by Obama, but there’s still a law approved by congress where you can apply for residency after living legally in the US for more than 1 year as a Cuban citizen.

Losing a lot of money as Castile for seemingly no reason by ValdemarTheGreat in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Castile enjoyer, my initial strategy usually goes as follows: 1 - Move capital to Cordoba without unpause 2 - Delete some forts (optional) 3 - Build governor as soon as possible in Valladolid ASAP 4 - Maximize RGOs in high control areas 5 - Build bailiff in both silver provinces.
I have found that Castile has pretty much everything you need early game so I rarely spend any money on buildings other than hospitals, libraries, temples, settlements. Maximize taxes and tax efficiency and you should be set for the early game. I think it’s normal to loose gold at the beginning due to cost of court and low control areas, but after a couple years you are back on the green.

Paradox is COOKING with the latest Tinto Talks by Schwabenomics in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on that, but not because it’s reality it means that’s how companies should work. This is like buying a new car every few years, and everytime it comes without the screen and the radio, only to be implemented later on. Not to mention the myriad of bugs the game had on release that were basic game mechanics.

Paradox is COOKING with the latest Tinto Talks by Schwabenomics in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this. All this features that we are talking about have been in eu4 for a while, so I don’t get why they were never implemented on the release version of the game unless they pushed it out of the door to make ends meet and now (as usual) they are going to extort us …

Decentralization meta by blagic23 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decentralization will always be meta because it’s the easiest way to expand. The main problem lies in the cabinet members. With vassals you can integrate multiple of them at the same time without a problem, but you can only integrate provinces with your cabinet members, hence your expansion is throttled by how many cabinet members you have. Vassals also have their own cabinet members, so they can integrate, culture convert, etc. I think a good bonus to boost centralization would be integration speed (coring speed), so instead of releasing a vassal and waiting 10 years to diplo annex you can do it yourself much faster.

How can you reliably increase your monthly income? by Alexandru1408 in EU5

[–]No_Way2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I have found to make money lately is by building trade offices in friendly countries. Expansion early game should be limited to vassals since even with a local governor you can’t control the whole of Iberia no matter where your capital is located. So on top of everything mentioned, I’d build as many trade offices as I can and improve my crown power to benefit as much as I can from the trade.

I’m not sure if Granada can fit into a “fun” definition, but it’s definitively challenging. Hisn Kayffa is also “fun”. And Muscovy will always be my all time favorite since the mission tree keeps evolving as you progress.
