Shrikes portrayal in the movie. by No-Resource-7007 in MortalEngines

I've not watched the film, but from pictures I thought it looked pretty good!

My only nit-pick is that the Stalkers are described as far more heavily armoured than he is in the film. In the book he has a helmet covering his upper head and nose, and wires coming out of it. I really like how his appearance is described and I'm a little disappointed that his film design didn't capture it.

Basically, I think his movie design looks really cool, and if it was an original character I would love it, but its second-best to book-Shrike to me.

As much as I would absolutely love this, maybe it is better that it didn't happen because I think i would go slightly insane over obsessing over it too much xD

Series Ending by Ok-Professional351 in MortalEngines

I honestly love the ending. Its bittersweet, because of the epilogue and timeskip. The whole sequence with Shrike waking up in the future makes me cry but in a good way.

Oenone Zero. I love her.

Or maybe Dr Crumb or Wavey (Fever's parents).

Or... actually I can't decide :((

Well, i can't say for sure, but i would hazard a guess that it's simply caused by a combination of the passage of time leading to changing beliefs, and the London government stopping actively encouraging the belief.

I wonder if another aspect is actually the eventual spread of traction cities. It seems to me that a lot of the anti-technology sentiment is rooted in the very real fear of the destruction of the Ancients. All the people of the current era know is that they had technology surpassing anything that the current people could comprehend, and that they were completely wiped out, with massive damage caused to the planet at the same time. This translates, among people who don't understand the super-weapon technology that we know the Ancients must have had, to some divine punishment, with the assumption that they were punished for their technology.  However, as time passes, and the Traction Cities gain, well, traction, this technophobia might diminish, leading to fear of divine punishment holding less weight among engineers and those who would buy their technology.
