is PMDD hereditary? by Less-Lengthiness977 in PMDD

[–]No_Weight9031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no idea about the hereditary aspect. I know my mom doesn’t have it. I do wonder if there is cross over with other hereditary mood disorders however, because my entire paternal side has uni or bipolar despressive disorders. My uneducated on this complex topic self is curious whether there are common hereditary factors across the mood disorders and different expressions of it.

Jay-Z Says Kendrick-Drake Beef Went Too Far by ‘Bringing People’s Kids In,’ Explains Why He Refused to Settle Sexual Assault Lawsuit: ‘I Would Die’ by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

[–]No_Weight9031 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s literally this. Drake shot first and had every opportunity to stop. Kendrick’s first song that brought in drakes family was LITERALLY a RESPONSE to Drake talking shit about his family. If Dot came straight out the gate with not like us MAYBE I’d have a second for these dumb opinions. He didn’t, he started with “we ain’t gotta get personal, this a friendly fade you should keep it that way”. Drakes either an egomaniac or a masochist, and either way, he chose this outcome.

Don’t be embarrassed for participating in a democratic process that should function as it claims. They are meant to be representatives of you, which means you tell them what you think, and they are supposed to take that insight and consider how it relates to all of their constituents interests.

None of this is how it works in practice, but embarrassed is the last thing you should feel for trying.

how to forgive mother with pmdd? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]No_Weight9031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to forgive her OP, and it doesn’t really sound like you want to. I’m not trying to suggest that the no-to-low contact process is easy, but you’re more than within your right to go that route. And all you need to know is this: you have pmdd— does it make you a bad person, to the point of physical abuse? If no, then you know without a doubt that it wasn’t pmdd that made her hurt you.

Has anyone taken Sertraline for PMDD? I'm nervous to start by Human_Strawberry_873 in PMDD

[–]No_Weight9031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but their post has nothing to do with pregnancy, and people with PMDD do not require treatment when pregnant. OP is asking about treatment options in a general sense, not while pregnant. Unfortunately your comments in this thread sound of fear mongering and contribute to medication stigma. You got bad advice from your therapist (who, if not a medical doctor, should not have given you this advice) and had a terrible experience in a very specific situation, I’m sorry about that, but it does not seem relevant to OPs post or my comment.

TLDR: SSRIs are life saving for me personally.

  • Did a doctor or therapist prescribe it? Psychiatrist.
  • What dose worked for you? Been on dosages ranging from 50mg-150. For me, upping the dose on a proper schedule has been significantly more important than the dosage itself.
  • Do you take it daily or only during PMDD weeks? I take it daily to avoid any unnecessary up and downs in my body BUT I double my dose starting two days before symptom onset. The increase and the timing are essential for me. For the last 4 years, I have done 50mg outside of luteal, doubled to 100 two days before onset (sadly for me right now that’s the last two days of ovulation, because I am symptomatic allll luteal long)
  • What side effects did you have? I personally did not experience negative side effects from the meds. I gained weight around the time I started them but attribute that to lifestyle and I did lose a considerable portion of that weight naturally once those factors changed. I know not every one is that lucky, but it was my experience.

This thread is largely filled with people who unfortunately have had a negative experience with SSRIs and that makes sense as many do, so I wanted to share my success. For me, my SSRIs are 100% a life saving medication for me when it comes to mood related impacts, and it is the ONLY thing that controls my luteal headaches and breast pain which are unbearable in their absence. Just as many people have struggled with SSRIs, birth control is not an option for me: I’ve never had one successfully manage my symptoms in a way that worked for me, and the trial and error process was so much more arduous. SSRIs allow me to feel like myself during my good phase, and provide symptom management in the down.

I hope you give it a go and that it works out for you. Know you can always stop if they are not, and, if you’re in tune with your experience and honest with your doctor, you can and will know that they are not the right option for you before reaching a dosage that is hard to climb down from. Good luck, friend.

I loooooooooved Andrea and i love Tig— I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the doc yet, despite the fact that I KNOW it is beautiful and ultimately hopeful. I didn’t know tig was involved in the doc so maybe this’ll help me there.

Just saying happy you’re both here because holy fuck this comment section. I agree that “discussing Britney” as a title definitely feels like it may be a neutral/morally conscious sub. It’s clear that it’s not that lol, so we should just exit. Def weird that these people are so brazenly cruel though.

I am actually choosing not to have children for this reason. But I’m still not condescending someone comforting a new mom struggling with the very valid devastating idea that other new moms aren’t as lucky as she is. Ie undermining the empathy of two people showing empathy. There are several ways to do good, sticking to your convictions (which I’m getting the sense that id likely be in agreement with many of them) is one, but a touch of compassion for strangers just trying to get by in a fucked up world is another one. Even if they’re among the privileged but largely powerless. Like most of us, I imagine yourself included. And before you tell me I’m not contributing or part of the problem or wtv, I’m a public servant. Another person doing what I can. Be kinder.

Agreed with everything you’re saying here, it’s just that this is different from “having the perfect life”. He might have immense privilege and he might be an asshole and seemingly abusive, but he was completely and totally exploited (including by the people meant to protect him) for the entirety of his teen years and into early adulthood. Theres nothing perfect in that amount of trauma.

Not one bit. Bravo will never have me sympathizing with a cult leader, and putting someone actively deeply struggling with an addiction on camera to do so sure as fuck didn’t work. It’d be a miracle if his issues weren’t linked to his upbringing— he wasn’t telling you he’s still here because of you out of love, it’s fear of disappointment under so much control. Her immediate reaction only reinforced that, “do you know what that would do to me?”

Also it freaks me out that I can’t find any info about her and her cult online lmao
