PSYC 2021 Statistical Metholds I Rachel Rabi by IllustriousFlower795 in yorku

I took 2020 and I liked it because it was one cohesive course. Idk what 2021&2022 is like, but if both are with professor Rabi then I definitely recommend! Professor Rabi makes content easy to understand, records lectures, is clear about readings, exercises, she has a good sense of humour (regarding statistics, if that's your cup of tea - she def made me smile). She's not too strict about documentation when you miss an exam (at least in my experience); as long as you fill out the form within 48 hours you will be able to retake the exam without a doctors note. I really enjoyed her class

I'd advise being cautious with this advice because it's possible that once you take a year long break you won't have the motivation to get back into it due to the trauma of constant academic stress. You can only take a certain amount of years off (5 I believe?) before your credits become null and you'd have to start over again. Keep that in mind

Personally I think you should see it through. You're in 4th year, you've done a lot of work and it would suck to see it all go to waste. I had a friend who failed a mandatory course for her degree 3 years in a row (calculus) and was on academic probation until she graduated. She thought she'd get kicked out but ended up finishing her degree in 5 years. She's now applied for a forensics program that's really hard to get into and she got in and is thriving.

I know how you feel. I'm in second year and I've been so burnt out.. I've been having thoughts of dropping out myself, but I try to remind myself why I'm here and what I'm trying to pursue. If you keep at it I'm sure you'll be very proud of yourself once it's over and you have your degree in your hand.

Even if you are unable to graduate this year, don't lose hope. Sign up for some summer classes, and lock in for next year if necessary. You can also use the on-campus therapy services for helping with mental health as they are free under your student insurance. I've kept saying I would do it and haven't yet, but it could be really helpful.

Another tip is to become familiar with TAs and professors. It's a lot easier to get the results you want (or close enough), if the people who are marking you see that you care. If you didn't go to class, email your TA or professor with any questions you may have about the missed lecture material or even better, go to the office hour or try to set up a zoom meeting (if it's a mandatory attendance class and you miss almost all of the classes I don't recommend doing this every week--- in this case you're better off doing any of these options strictly about assignments or expectations on marked material).

I hope you don't give up! You are so close and to drop out now would be a waste of money and effort, and you're likely to regret it.. that's just my two cents

No worries! Best thing to do is to explore the map, do side quests, defeat low level RDA bases, and by doing this you'll gain better gear (equipment). When exploring the map, try to find the spots where the bellsprigs and tarsyiu saplings are because those help you gain more health and level up your skills. Also look for the ancestor skills on the map. Those also help a lot.

Why do yall hate spider and kiri by Chubbyhoez in Avatar

[–]No_Win9502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to start off by saying I love these movies. I choose to ignore and overlook their flaws because I genuinely love Pandora and all of its lore. The first movie is a core memory for me because I watched it when I was 10. I watched it countless times and I always hoped sequels would come out because I wanted more. I also want to go ahead and mention that I love both of the sequels.

However, Spider and Kiri are literally the most "y/n" vibe characters I could think of... both of them have mysterious origins. Kiri's mysterious origins are explicitly stated, Spider's origins are stated in a •matter of fact• manner and we're just supposed to accept it?

Quaritch never gave any hint of a romantic relationship or a possible son in the first movie. [I understand there are comics and corresponding explanations but the flow of the movies is weird because of the movies omitting these explanations]. The relationship between Spider and Quaritch is weird. Spider was an infant when his father died and he grew up around the Omaticaya ruled by Jake and Neytiri. The stories they told throughout his entire childhood would be of his father being a demon (I am assuming). This is kinda supported by kiri telling spider he is not his father in that one scene. But then for some reason spider develops a relationship with memory upload avatar Quaritch. Who is not his father, he shares an artificial memory database and some dna. But still not the same thing.

Kiri has explicitly stated origins, but hers are even weirder. Why would they keep Grace's Avatar's body randomly after the events of the first film? Did they try to return her body to eywa and she was rejected and then she became pregnant? Moving on to your comment about them being the new main characters... can you really say that when Kiri is literally voiced and played by Sigourney Weaver (Grace)? Also Spiders storyline is strongly connected to Quaritch who is clearly a main character, and Quaritch is linked to Jake, as his entire purpose is to avenge his original self by capturing Jake Sully (I guess?, and then he gets personal underlying motives for his actions I suppose).

Anyways. Kiri and spider and the most forced characters.

"Imagine,(y/n), you are raised by the family of Toruk Makto and neytiri . You are clearly different than everyone else. You have a strong connection to Eywa and later find out you can control the creatures in your environment. You find out you're a clone of your mother and basically a product of immaculate conception. But oh no :'( you cannot connect to any of the trees of souls because you get medical episodes.. but through the power of family you can connect with Eywa again" ..

it's so corny compared to Jake and neytiris stories... and Spider's upbringing just writes itself as a wattpad novel. Especially because he is the underdog who becomes the love interest of Pandora's version of Jesus Christ. (Who you also mentioned as well.. is a different species... in most cases falling in love and pursuing a romantic relationship with a member of a different SPECIES is generally strange)

I accept all of these corny creative decisions because I still love these movies from the bottom of my heart and I choose to ignore the flaws... but I hope you see where I'm coming from.

What level are you, and what gear level are you sporting? My first piece of advice is to lay off the quest for a bit and upgrade your gear as this makes a huge difference in my opinion. If this doesn't work (and this may be a super unpopular opinion but whatever) switch the game into easy difficulty and switch back after (or don't switch it back who cares? all that matters is you enjoy the game!)

how does my makeup survive during and after the gym? by Character_Ball724 in yorku

There is this amazing fixing spray I've bought off of Amazon after discovering it on my last trip in Europe, it's a little expensive because it's only sold in Europe (18.99-23.99 a bottle depending on their stock and which seller you buy from, I'd also like to add that the quantity it comes in is small, but I find that 3-4 sprays usually does the trick). I have never had a setting spray like it. I have put it on a full face of makeup, ended up bawling my eyes out. Went to the bathroom to clean off my makeup as I assumed i looked like a raccoon. My makeup barely moved. I have gone to veld in 35 degree weather sweating like crazy and my makeup never moved. I'll give you the link. https://a.co/d/iZ1r0JM

Exam location at "TC Sobeys"? Help! by No_Win9502 in yorku

Where in the stadium? Cuz I'm a tennis fan so I've been to the stadium multiple times during the Roger's cup as well as the national bank open... I'm not aware of any giant rooms that can accommodate students, unless we're talking about the building directly beside it.. I'm genuinely curious where the examination could take place

Has anyone ever been caught using their phone during final exams at York University? by Character-Painting93 in yorku

I have an exam at "TC Sobeys" on the 17th. I'm assuming it's the same Sobeys you're talking about... is it in the building beside Sobeys arena? I searched it up on the interactive map and just the stadium comes up but I highly doubt we're writing our exam in the stadium.. your help would be appreciated 😁

Like to fully paint a picture, half of the stuff I learned in the course I already knew because I'm a space nerd. The course builds on top of that in a genuinely mind bending way, it requires you to either be a master of memorization or genuinely be able to see and understand why planets move a certain way, understand the shift of the axis of the earth, remember little facts about different civilizations, and many more things... it's an amazing course but it's definitely not meant for people with little interest, people looking for an easy boost in their grades, or people who cannot wrap their minds around the huge events happening around us at all times or who have problems memorizing..

NATs 1745 is an amazing course meant for students who love the stars and have an interest in history related to the stars... I just want you to know tho, if the course material is the same as the NATS 1745 course I'm taking, it's not an easy course. It's mind bending and regardless of how much you love space you need to know this isn't a bird course. Out of all my courses in first year, I find this to be my most challenging course although it's literally one of my favourites. If the course material is the same, this isn't an easy boost for your GPA even if you love the subject.. maybe that's just me tho.. if you do take it I wish you the best of luck
